Recently installed a standard 6" system from @dirtydeeds and i love it!! sounds amazing and almost zero drone thanks to the Helmholtz resonator. Very happy with the system that I got and Keith from the shop was awesome to deal with. The install was pretty simple to do and took about and hour or less. I have a few pics and will upload a video sound clip too soon

Here is the kit fresh out of the box. Came with all parts needed for the install
    20161231_114938_resized.jpg 20170102_141841_resized.jpg

This is the Helmholtz resonator. I had to use a 2" hole saw to cut into the tail pipe, besides that cut the kit is all of 4 bolts to tighten it up

    20170102_141804_resized.jpg
    20170102_141824_resized.jpg
the rest uses the stock 4 bolts and clamp to connect the system in place and also provides a new gasket for the tail pipe.

over all super stoked on how the system turned out and def recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their exhaust system. Like I said Ill have video sound clips posted too soon!!!

this is the kit i got from them -

I've installed mine twice in the last 5 days. LOL. I installed it on my 15, then 3 days later spontaneously traded my truck in, then today installed it on my 17. Very easy install. There are four 14mm bolts and one 12mm bolt for the exhaust itself. I haven't installed the resonator yet bc I want to drive it around for a bit and see if I even need it. But, the resonator only requires a 2" holesaw and 2 clamps.

I got the 8". I haven't noticed any drone yet, but, tomorrow I'll be on the interstate for a few hours, so I'll see how it is at those speeds/RPMs. On my 2015, the hum of the 295 tires was louder than the exhaust at cruising speed. What I love about the exhaust so far is that the 8" produces a nice deep rumble at idle, wakes up during accelation, and is damn near stock sounding at cruising speeds around town. But, I've only had it on for about 5 days on two seperate trucks, so I don't have a lot of experience with it yet

@BlueBottle , I just got home from 300 mile trip cruising at 80mph, couldn't even hear the exhaust. It sounds incredible, and I'm pretty certain I will not be installing the resonator, the exhaust really just doesn't need it.

You still running without resonators? Just wondering how you like it to date.

Yeah, I never installed the resonator. It sounds great. Maybe I'm just deaf, but there is no bothersome drone in the cab...even when pulling my boat. My wife thinks it sounds good and hasn't complained of drone either.

Installed my 8" today. Took it for a brief test drive and it's almost perfect! No resonator and there is a hint of drone right around 2k Rpms but is nowhere near enough to bother me. I might install the resonator later just out of curiosity. Wish it was just a tad louder. Did yours break in and get louder?

Thanks for helping me decide on this.

Here is a sound clip of mine.

I have the same set up with the resonator and I noticed it got louder when it got broken in.

Thanks for the heads up. How long did it take to break in?

I actually drove to Keith's shop in Escondido from Los Angeles (100 miles) to get it installed and I noticed it got louder on the way back home after 70-80 miles. The sound gets better and better once you start breaking it in.

    None, yet....
Aren't these just chambered mufflers? I am not sure how one would break one in. If these were packed with glass, I would understand them changing over time, but I didn't realize you could break-in a large baffle.

Does dirtydeeds list what mufflers he uses?

My experience is....you'll always wish it's louder....until it actually is....then you regret.

Mine definitely got louder as I drove my truck more. That's my experience.

I'm glad you like it. Personally, I haven't noticed mine getting louder. I think the 8" is damn near perfect for me. I even made my wife drive around the block and past the house and accelerate so I could hear it from the outside. It's a nice, subtle tone, just deep enough and no where near obnoxious.

I'm not saying it's obnoxious. I'm saying it got louder from when it was first installed. I think it's perfect the way it sounds now.
