This is kind of funny how the perspective changes in different vehicles. We used gold mountain as a warm up for John Bull. We bomb through that in like 45min-1hr with our jeeps, but I can't image taking a long ass tundra through some of the tight switchbacks in that trail.

Not sure we could get thru the gatekeeper on John Bull without damage. We sat and watched a lot of people while we ate lunch but never tried taking a Tundra.

I mean...... anything is possible, Just depends on how big your balls are!! I am fairly confident it would high center unless you were on 40s just due to the wheelbase though. If you've never done John Bull, try to find the crawler crowd and see if they have an empty seat and join them. That's the best/hardest trail up there. It's got a couple sweet pretty technical spots.

There is word of a much harder obstacle up there than what is on John Bull, but my buddies and I never found it.

Stiff, but tire options are getting tougher to come by in larger sizing. I would do it.

I see stiffness as a downside, but with that puncture resistance would be higher so a positive as well.

I've done John Bull a few times in my 1st Gen 4Runner but no way in the Tundra. White Mtn. and Gold Mtn. are as tough a trail as I'd attempt in a full-size. IMG_0530.jpgIMG_0528.jpg

Got the 40's and atlas right off the bat. Had to read the wontons a little slower, then I got it. Maybe I'm a little slower ? :anonymous:

Oh he wheels it alright! It's done all the Hammers in Johnson Valley. It just got painted in this pic. Not bad for a rattle can! It has 5.29s, dual-cases(one being a 4.7low), Spartan lockers F&R, RCV axles, 40" Creepy Crawlers. He literally waltzes thru John Bull like it's not even there. It bores him. I have to bug him to go with. He spends all his time in JV now... IMG_0782.jpgIMG_0784.jpg IMG_0785.jpg

Hell yeah!!!! Well if you guys decide on coming out east and find yourselves in Colorado, I'll be your tour guild. We go have some fun. Good times.

Our crew is supposed to be out your way in August, but they just want to do the Rubicon trail. I'm not real interested in that....

This is cool. I approve. You should tell Eric he's either got a leaking shock or a diff fluid leak.

Don't even think about doing JV in august. It's still like a billion degrees out there! We don't get out there till October and it still hits 70s-80s. The poopicon is fun if you haven't done it. All the hard obstacles have bypasses now, but you should still be able to hit the good stuff. Look up dusy ershim or swamp lake. Not exactly the hardest stuff in the world, but both are 25+ one way trails. That's the tough part about them. Just making sure your rig survives 3 days straight and carrying all your shit in and out.

I was looking at the rubicon trail, and it doesn't look real hard for a person with 40" stickies and built rig.

I'm really not interested in going and most likely will not. I agree, way to hot, and I no longer have AC.

Thanks for the offer. The same offer to you my friend... if you make it out this way I'll gladly show you some trails. We can do John Bull, Holcomb Creek, and Dishpan Springs to name a few of my favorites.

    That's not a leak it's a metal plate btw.
