Looking at buying an 05 with just under 99,000. Jacked it up and this is what I find:
Seems surface area, but the potential to be worse. Gas tank cover is hanging down, not even sure what that broken line is, and not pictured, exhaust system is pretty dang rusted too.

Is this worth buying or passing?

    No

    Not just no

    But Hell No

Do NOT buy a rust bucket. There’s absolutely no need to do that when there are other vehicles out there that aren’t rusted at all.

It will NOT get better, only worse!!

    Sorry!

Truck looks like it'll be a bish to work on. Sad cause the exterior looks mint.

Broken line looks like E Brake cable.

Likely a flood vehicle. Does it have a salvage title? I wouldn’t touch it but depends on what you’re using it for and how much they’re asking

Lived in NY most of my life and we are a rust state and I have never ever witnessed that much rust on anything.

If you hit a bump that thing will fall apart.

Im born and raised Southern California and I had no idea rust was this bad in other parts of the US/ Canada after being on this forum. I mean I knew they rusted from road salt and water, but holy shit. That thing looks like a salvaged WW2 ship from the bottom of the ocean. Not the first one ive seen on here. I can see why people trade their trucks in every 5 years. I know that under coatings can help prevent this, but it looks like it makes a mess under the truck. Im the type of guy that washes my under side by hand so this would drive me nuts.

Sorry to go off topic. No rust experience, but I would pay to have one shipped from a dry area. Or road trip.

Unless that thing is $1000-2000 it would be a hard no. That rear axle is toast. If you look closely, that rear axle looks wet. It's so rusted that I think it's actually leaking diff fluid. Not to mention the rest of the suspension and what I can see of the frame. Didn't you say you're in Ohio?

If you are serious about buying a 1st gen tundra you need to look outside the rust belt.

Is your question "worth buying bluesteel Tundra" or is it really "worth buying a Tundra with significant rust and corrosion that happens to be painted bluesteel?

    Run away.... :sawzall:
