Thats pretty cool, Law. I'd put that on a shelf.

I am finally getting back to a serious routine. Need to drop about 30lbs but keep the muscle as I go. My struggle isn't with working out, its the kitchen and beer:dancingbacon:

Went to video my last set of a bench rep PR did 3 sets of 5 of the cleanest/smoothest 315lbs I've ever pushed. Went to pick up my phone to re watch it.... my dumbass forgot to hit record.

Gahhhhh I hate when that happens lol.

Got the 150'S for reps last week; sadly
No video ...so it didn't happen.

However, I was able to manage a few messy reps from the Bronco 170's tonight...I'll post up a video of the disaster later tonight.

Bringing some life back to this thread. Made some slow mo videos a couple weeks ago of my lower workout to check out my form. I'm fairly happy with it, specially my squat, I feel sturdy.

Critique if you'd like, always open to adjustments.

P.S. turn off your volume bc when it gets slow it distorts the sound and it's horrible, lol.

Did a set of Sumo deads just to see how they looked. I rarely sumo deadlift.

The hardest part is stay the course. What I do is think about working out all day. Then I get excited and can't wait to start the burn. Theres a lot of strategy with lifting and eating. It depends on goals, time and equipment. My shoulder has been in pain for about 6 weeks and I have battled knee pain. One thing I discovered was lower weights for a lot of reps has given me great gains and its easier on the body. I like to push a weight for 20 reps now for 3-4 sets. Just my personal preference.

Stick with the big three for a few months. Squat, bench and deadlift 3 times a week. Get some light cardio in on two days.
Last thing you want to do is start BIG to where you can't move all week and end up in a perpetual cycle of DOMS.

For now, focus on cleaning up your diet. Focus on lean meat, complex carbs, veggies, fruits and nuts. Drink a lot of water.
Trying to do too much all at once is going to burn you out.

@Sean266 is another fitness guru on here. He'll chime in soon enough.

If it were me, and I was new to the fitness industry I would start easy and go from there. Going too hard, too quick (that's what she said) will burn you out- Similar to what @Law323 said.

Start with bust cleaning up your diet. More water, less whatever else you're drinking.

Regards to training/ form over strength. Do not train with your ego. You'll end up burned out and are more at risk for injury.

There's more then that, but I'll leave it at that, for now.

Case in point on ego training. I watched this guy performing 1/4 squats with 5 plates/side + 25lbs/side (250 each side for those mathematically inclined) on the smith machine today. Why?!

Good rule of thumb on form in any exercise (especially compound movements - movements involving more than one joint) is back straight, shoulders back, chest out, and abs tight.

Contrary to popular belief, you don't just "get big" takes a lot of time, disciplined diet and training.

I think the most important thing is to establish your goals and what you want to achieve. I'm certain that my workout & @Sean266's or @Law323's will all be different because we're more than likely solving for different things. With that in mind, be careful or mindful of the advice that people give you in terms of workouts... they don't know your goals, they can't give you suggestions for working out. The number of times I've had people tell me I should be lifting more weight or some other shi*, is ridiculous. They have no idea what my goals are, yes, I can deadlift a crap load more than I do but that's not the direction I go in.

So.. set your goals, and only take input from people that listen & understand what you want out of it all... Also, some of the best money you'll ever spend is on regular personal training sessions... If you're motivated, you can get away with seeing one every few weeks, they program your workout and tweak it as you progress... you need the motivation to do the work without them though. If you don't have that, you need more training sessions! ;)

I 100% agree with you. And I do trust people on here especially after reading this thread and @Law323 @Sean266 comments on everything made me trust them and appreciate their opinions. And yes everyone else on here also has great ideas. All I'm doing is taking what I can and apply it to my own routine and dedication. Thanks a lot everyone.
