    Get in touch with @james@tech12volts

He can get you to a better place as far as audio is concerned.

You can replace just your factory amp which guys said does wonders.

You could also just add a DSP.

Either one used can be pretty cheap and easy to install on its own.

    You have some options...

Digital signal processor. Basically an in-line box that doctors the signal coming from your head unit. The head unit signal is dirty and cheap and that contributes to a lot of the harshness of the sound. It’s akin to the difference between SD and HD TV, it’s a cheaper not quite as good as a new headunit but for the price it may just get you what you want out of the sound.

What year Tundra do you have that you added this amp? Will it work in a 2010 SR5 standard Stereo/CD/BT head unit?

Not exactly. Mine is a 2014 and it's a direct swap with the factory amp. I'm sure you can wire one in but I'm not familiar with the 2nd Gens wiring. Hope it's OK to link to another site, but here is what I have done:

Why I asked is because after 2013 I believe the stock head units are junk (cheaper manufacturers) , I have a 2016 Platinum and after installing a Phoenix Android head unit I am very pleased with the sound. I also later added a $180 sub and am still using the stock speakers till they blow.
My best advice is to start with replacing the stock head unit.

All the stereos seem to be worse than the speakers...but my 1st gen seems to have best speakers...as i start looking into head units...seems to be more confusing than the amp situation...i want a good driod head unit that i can just hook up without a bunch of torture...i have a dasata im my 1st its gen...its affordable but not quality...just every angle of this seems to be days of research that still leaves me confused

I had installed the the first gen Phoenix and now have thave the second gen fast boot installed. Was going to make a custom bracket and mount the first gen in the rear of the center council for the boys but don't think time is on my side. I belive that Phoenix is now currently has a 4th gen out now. Just with the Phoenix HU makes the platinum sound like a $50,000 should sound like. They now do make a unit for 07 to 13 gen and there is this thread https://www.tundras.com/threads/android-headunit.16037/
but now believe if you want current info to check on the Facebook page that you can find at the end of that thread.

I agree with ZPMAN. The first mod I did to my 08 sequoia was the stereo. Not because I wanted it to sound better, but because I needed a 2020 navigation, etc. I had BB install a Pioneer nex unit with wireless CarPlay and when I picked it up I was shocked. The speakers were no longer muddy and old sounding, they were crisp and clean. The 8" sub was awoken too, it is more than enough bass for me. Believe me when I say.....NIGHT and DAY difference. If you go with a CarPlay or android auto unit you won't have to worry about updating navigation maps or anything like that since it uses google and apple maps/navigation.
