Looks like non of my power outlets work when the key is not in or on. That sucks!
Has anyone done a hot wire mod to an outlet to provide 12v power without key in ignition?

It makes no sense to me for Toyota to do that, My buddies Tukoma was the same, so we had to turn on power to charge phones when we were out camping.

I have a 2007. As long as something is in the front passenger side cigarette outlet or the one in the center console when the ignition is turned off, it will continue to be supplied power.

Nope, not on my 2010. No power to The middle the one under the center seat or the rear accessory outlet.

On my 2018 there is a relay in the fuse box next to the battery that can be jumped to provide full time power to the cig lighter connectors. I'm at work and don't have pictures available but I can post them when I get home this evening or tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the info on the relay BERGMEN. Hope you can pop a pick sometime. I just bought the truck so I don't have a shop or electrical manual for it yet, so your help is appreciated. I'm sure the Japanese want to remove the chance of fire to a live wire but in todays world, I need constant power. Maybe I wanna light my cigarette without turning on power to the truck or charge my electronic device while I'm in the bar watching the Pittsburg Steelers play.

Well, here is a picture of the relay map in my 2018 (underside of the fuse/relay box behind the battery under the hood). See red rectangle "P/OUTLET NO.1":

...and also of the jumper I made to provide full time power to the outlets (these are the two outlets under the climate control knobs only):

There is no safety risk, the circuit is still protected with a fuse. This just jumps the relay which is activated by turning the key on.

Cool, I'll look it up and "fix" it. Now... If I could only find the seat belt not buckled relay as well. I don't always like wearing the seatbelt... like going down a long slow bumpy road.

Did this in my 2020 and it worked brilliantly. Thanks for sharing.

Anyone know if this can this be done for the center console and rear outlets? It would seem that they would be "PWR outlet No. 2".

i also need to do this on my 2008, and i saw the post Bergman posted regarding the jumper wire in the relay box, but the relay panel on my 2008 is completely different than the one he posted (post# 7) for his 2018...see the attached image of my relay map. i don't see any spots that are labeled "P/OUTLET" on mine like the one he posted.

basically what i'm wanting to do is connect my 25w solar powered battery tender into an always-hot 12v plug so that it back-feeds into the battery. i'm going to be installing some dashcams, and rather than buying a dedicated auxiliary dashcam battery (which are very expensive, won't last for more than about a day with my dashcam setup, and extremely dangerous if you try to charge them when it's too hot or too cold), i can just connect the solar panel to run the dashcams in parking mode, and should still have enough to keep the battery itself topped off as well. but i need to have the connection inside the cab so my solar panel doesn't grow legs & walk away, and want as clean an install as possible.

i've been scouring the internet for a way to do it this easily on my truck, but i'm losing faith that this is possible, and may have to end up running a dedicated (and fused) connection...but would rather not have to do that if not absolutely necessary...and i also don't want to splice into any factory wiring either...i hate cutting up factory stuff.

    can anyone help?

You can get a short seat belt extender which would cancel out the annoying seat belt alarm.
