AMP Research boards? Like? Pics?

    Anybody out there have AMP running boards, and how do you like them?? Any pics installed on a MGM?

    Also....We go up skiing a lot in the winter, anyone ever have the boards not go down or not retract back up due to ice/snow/etc???

    Many have them. In the cold states they can get stuck with icy temps.

    I have them and I really like them. Also had them on my 08 tundra. I live in Pa. Gets pretty cold here never had a problem. Also just got back from duck hunting in upstate NY this Monday we had cold temp and snow and no problems at all with them. I know some people say they freeze up but I have not experienced it yet.

    I love them... I've had them on every truck I've had. My wife is only 5' so she needs them and I hate having steps that hang down all the time.

    I have had amp research steps on three different trucks. I take my truck to Colorado every winter and have never had a problem with them sticking. Amp research now has two versions, the original and the XL version. Plus rockslide engineering also makes retractable steps that are made for more off-road. They also serve as a rockslide protection if you need.

    These steps will probably be my first big purchase.. they give the truck such a clean look. They're pricey that's for sure but I bet it's worth it.

    Had them on for a week or so, they are great...plus kids and wife can get in and out of the truck lil easier...

    I love having my big Tundra however it's not for everyone. It's a lot more money upfront to do a bigger lift and the gas goes way down. If you like the smoothness of the ride the 3-1 level lift & 35" is the ticket. My trucks rides pretty good with the coilovers and upgrades from coachbuilder. I would not suggest the Bullet proof 12" lift though IMPO. The reviews from other tundra owner I've talked to where not good. I can also tell you that coachbuilder was working with another company designing a completing new 10" & 12" lift for the Tundra. This lift may hit the market next year and is supposed to be exceptional for a larger lift.

    Gives me something to look forward to. From what I've seen, most folks that go that high are having custom lifts done. I'm just hoping I can squeeze 35's

    The rim offset is also a determining factor on if your tires will rub. I'm running 37" on 12" wide rims with a -51 offset. What size lift are you leaning towards? If you do a 6" lift you can easily fit 35's. There are plenty of guys on here with 3-1 and 35's.

    I was leaning towards a 6in lift but my wife loves driving my truck and I don't mind it, just not sure I trust her with a lift like that.

    If the rims are positive offset then the rims and tires move more towards the inside of the fenders. If they are negative then the rims and tires push outwards more. So my rims have a bigger lip on the rim since they are -51. A 6" lift isn't to difficult to drive. My wife and other buddies wives drive lifted trucks. That's assuming she is a decent driver of course. Here is a link to better explain the whole offset deal.

    Thanks man. My wife is a pretty good driver and I don't mind her cruising the truck ever, but I'm looking for the "stance" look. deeper dish rims for a more aggressive look.

    If you do a 6" lift on 35" tires you can run a 10"& 11" wide rim no problem. You can run a 12" rim with a -41 offset and a 6" lip but it does require modification like trimming the bumper & part of the frame. Most guys don't want to cut into the frame. I'll get you some pics of where I'm talking about the frame hitting the tire. It's not a big deal to guys who do it but if your insurance finds out you cut the frame it's not good. So its really up to you and what you want.
