I'm curious if leaving my detail products in the garage over the winter is a bad idea. It gets down in the twenties at night here, and I wonder if you're the cold weather will mess these products up.

What do you guys do with your detail products in the winter?

Your garage is usually quite a bit warmer than the rest of the outside air. If liquids are freezing in there, then yes. Otherwise don't worry about it.

It will depend on the temperature inside your garage and the products.

Detailing materials are often more viscous than water, and contain high percentage of "hydrocarbon distillates". They do not freeze at typical ambient temperatures, but the components may later separate into an unusable mess. Some products will say on the bottle not to let them freeze. To insure there is no deterioration, store them inside if you have the space.

I keep all my stuff inside all year round. I just assumed the heat of the summer and cold in the winter would be bad for the products.

I keep everything on a cart and in plastic bins that I move to the basement in October and back to the garage in April. Some stuff I store in the basement year round.

I keep everything in the garage year round outside of some of the more expensive waxes. Where I live there’s very little concern with lower temperatures though. It was 84 degrees yesterday....

I bring my stuff in. I found some of the liquid waxes or sealants tend to separate; had one that separated that ended up not covering as well after.

I personally leave mine in my enclosed garage all year, but have a little mini fridge to store certain things in for the summer. It seems things break down with extreme heats more than colds, but I live in southwest louisiana, so freezing temps aren't that common. But like mentioned, garage is generally a bit warmer. This morning it was 32 degrees, but truck said 52 when I got in, then adjusted accordingly as I drove out in the weather.

I have an un-insulated garage in MN. I bring it all in after my last wax/seal before winter.
(I also bring in all my power tool batteries at the same time).

Its 0 degrees here right now, my garage is not insulated so its close to that in there, and then in July it gets up around 100° in there. I have seen cold effect products more so than heat but 100 isn't really that hot.
