I have Firestone bags myself. I run 35-40 lbs towing my 31’ travel trailer. I’m lifted and it seems any weight drags the ass end. The bags are fantastic

It depends on the load :) you add as much air as needed. The manufacturer will say about how much weight each PSI is worth. A little goes a long way. I've never needed more than about 40 PSI myself.

All the airlines for my airlift system are plastic, all the fittings brass. I don't think salt would effect it.

I've got a 2019 trd tundra. Changed out the stock timbers to avoid rear sag. Here in the n.e lots of salt and chemicals that will effect the bags and lines. So I've been told my a few knowledgable people. Less money too :)

I’m still happy with my Timbren, but they do ride much better with a load. No maintenance.

I'm glad I put them on. The only that affected my ride a little is jacking up the psi to 40. But I feel the handling is better at 40psi. When or if you tow. You have to figure its appropriate 10% of what that trailer weighs goes on the rear ;) plus what you have in your bed. In my opinion. It's a no brainer.

I have Firestone bags and a Toytec boss system. This truck is as smooth as my stock tundra but it also corners like a car.

Nice had the same lift in my fj and 4 runner. My tundra is stock suspension for now. What nice about the new boss toytec lift is the shocks are rebuildable ;)

I had firestones/cradles in my Tacoma and loved the adaptability. I just added a decked and ARE cap to the Tundra which put it at a even stance. Need that rake back since I haven't loaded the drawers or added the RTT yet. Another set of firestones/cradles arrived yesterday. I carry a bike pump for bikes and bags. Couple pumps do the trick easily. Anyone ever use the milwaukee compressor to inflate tires as well as bags? Trying to convince the CFO that we need another milwaukee tool. :spending:

I have the same setup here. Went with the Firestone F3 wireless.

I went over my install mistakes here
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/ride-rite-daystar-dont-do-this-and-a-few-questions.52026/

I added manual fill valves in case my compressor took a dump. I actually needed it. I think my relay went out but haven’t ripped it apart to work it out yet.

I’ve been running around 15 psi. But just for kicks I checked the psi with 3 different pumps, a digital gauge, and my home compressor gauge. NOT A SINGLE one matched up and some were 30psi off from the others. Bottom line, if you think you have the psi correct but the truck doesn’t feel right, try another gauge.

I got into the habit of squeezing my bags frequently just to give em the ol hand test. My bike pump always seemed to have an accurate read out. Rolled at 15-20psi regularly. Another thing I think it assists with is launch control. The back end didn't squat so much when punching it off the line. Waiting for a nice day to install the bags on the fundra.

I just installed the Torque kit (looks very similar to the Firestone setup) and Daystar cradles. Huge improvement in ride and handling with the trailer hooked up and dirtbike in the bed. Don't really notice much change in ride with no weight in the bed and the bags at 4 or 5psi.

Firestone Ride Rite, 30 psi loaded, 5 psi unloaded. And a pic of my girlfriend of 36 years.

So do you have to keep a minimum amount of air in them whenever your empty?

Same as jeremyd... Firestone Ride Rite's sitting in Daystar cradles at about 30psi towing my cargo trailer. I also installed Bilstein 5160's in the back and the TRD sway bar. I towed before I added this setup and can vouch for the huge difference in stability. Really no comparison. I had Firestone's on my last tundra as well.. over 100k miles in about 7 years and they held up great.

When installing, do i really need to cut the bumper? Is the cut off part providing support or something? Why can’t I just remove it out?

Shout out to @NoRcptn for the license plate valve idea. Installed the Firestone bags today.

I went ahead and ordered airlift and daystar cradles, a member here has recommended them and has good things to say about them, and I can run them 0 psi when not in use. I load the bed with tools and lumber almost every weekend and got tired of the sag. Haven't installed them yet, just waiting on the Decked system to arrive sometime this week. Hopefully it works out well for me....

Boom! Small chance you'll run em at 0 with the decked system in. I just put my decked system in and lost a half inch of rear rake. Along with the cap I'm now level. Waiting for a nice weekend and some time away from my honey-do list to install my ride rite and cradles.

Well, at least you hang your balls all the way out and don't even try to hide being grossly overweight. Glad Ohio doesn't have any mountain ranges.

I have to say, triple axle GN trailer attached to a Tundra is a new one for me.

I'm not sure everyone knows the difference between a semi-floating and full floating rear axle and why payload really does matter. Airbags, rubber bumpstops, pixie dust, and Santa Claus cannot help in these situations.

Most people the own 1/2 tons do not push payload limits. Maybe 40% push the limit's a bit on payload, but some people just shoot for the stars. Personally, replacing axle housings due to total failure is not fun or cheap....especially on the side of the road.

Why payload matters....and airbags/LDH/springs all give a false sense of "doing the right thing" but not really. Notice on a Semi-floating axle you have all the load riding on the axle shaft with one bearing. Ever wonder why these bearings fail or bent axles can happen for various reasons? Now you might see the "why" a little closer. Now look at the full floating axle (axle shaft is floating without load). What you have here is a spindle, wheel hub with inner and outer bearings, and axle shaft bolts to the outside of the the hub assembly. Technically you can remove the axle shaft from a FF axle and keep rolling.

    post-7844-0-33565100-1514060919.jpg

This is a better picture of the axle shaft bolted to the wheel hub.
