This is in off topic because I it really did not fit other categories

My dog boxes that go in the back have these radiator fans mounted on the back. I used them to pull cab air into the boxes during the hot summer months while driving. Worsk very well. A bit too well and I want to control or step them way down to move less air

I used this controller but it really did not work that well - I am trying to step down the voltage consideably as the fans move too much air. There is a real balance but it worked very well for me even though I only intermittently used the fan because it pulled too hard.

Front air must NOT be on max AC/Recirculate and an exhaust must be provided from the boxes

I think I need a simple potentiometer and this digitial thing was a bit overkill. Maybe I just got a cheapo model. These work by intermittenly pulsing the current vs a steady drop with resulting heat production....and I gather even 2.8 amps drawn by each fan is a lot for a pot?
This looks a little more robust and I would love feed back. Also feed back on the concept of physically controlling the output speed of a radiator fan manually. FWIW, I supplied power by using a fused cigarette lighter plug and would love to have 12vo toutlets at the back of my truck for stuff like this.

Think basically air is taken out of back window of truck. Into Dog boxes by way of a "plenum at the back of the boxes "and pulled from the truck by the fans where it is pushed through the dog boxes. The whole plenum thing was splendid with the camper shell and a donut between the cab and the camper but I know I can recreate the concept ... it allowed me to direct air to the dog boxes as opposed to the entire camper which was very inefficient.

    Google rheostat
Simple rotary dial to adjust voltage to fans
Will need to select rheostat based on amp draw and fan motor resistance

I did, but wound up with these PWM controller things when I searched for rheostat - though maybe I just got the wrong size

12 volts, 2.8 amps,, calculates to 4.2 ohms and 33 watts.....
