Background story: I have a 2012 2WD CrewMax. I put on Bilstein 5100's in front and back. Front at highest setting and put Toytec shackles in back at 1" setting. Got some +12 offset wheels and Nitto Ridge Grappler G2 285/65/20 tires. They rubbed so while getting aligned, they removed the front inner fender shroud and the rear mudflaps. No more rubbing. Aligned it, turns great, looks great, no issues.

Until today... I was getting off of a right turn exit ramp. So I've got the wheel turned to the right maybe 1/3 of the way and I start to apply the brakes and I hear a very odd almost combination of ABS sound and grinding sound. My first thought was maybe I braked too hard and the front of the truck dipped down causing the tire to rub the bumper somehow. I stopped and checked and saw nothing. I went back and took the exit again and barely ( and I mean barely) tapped the brakes and it made the same sound again. It only seems to do it when I'm taking a right turn from over 35 and braking. And if I barely tap the brakes, just to get the pad to engage is when it happens. Under that speed like when turning down a road or something it is just fine.

When the noise occurs and I let off the brake, it keeps going for about 3 seconds then stops. Then it will start again if I tap the brake and again it will last about 3 or 4 seconds then stops. I can't see anything rubbing or grinding.

Anyone have any clue? Will be taking to a shop next week if I can't figure it out over the weekend.

Hey Joe, I actually have the same issue going on rn, it happened after I put new tires on. Exiting a freeway, or on a sharp bank... it will even make the noise without braking if I'm going fast enough.
The one mechanic I went to was stumped... he said maybe the differential.

Let me know if you found out anything on your end before I go into another shop and they start replacing things. I don't think its rubbing, very odd noises though. Thanks

Hey Joe, not sure if this helps but for me it was my VSC activating on the turns. Try turning it off on, 3 second hold on the VSC once and then a second time for traction control to turn off. There are work around to recalibrate or reset it. Cheers

Yep, it sounds like a your traction control is kicking on. I’m guessing it’s doing that because of the yaw sensor while turning and then tapping the brakes. It thinks you’re in trouble.
