@OVTune can you tell me what the program name is for the old logger so I can remove it and install the new one please? I can not find the program in my list but do not know exactly what I am looking for. I figured OVTune, flash and manager were key names but I do not see anything like that installed. Please advise TIA

The old logger is built into flash manager.
just uninstall the older flash manager.

Also, we would like to let everyone know that any order placed from today through the 15th, we will donate $50 from each order to St Judes

@OVTune Any time frame for having direct shift mapped out for SC'd trucks? If it is going to be awhile, I would take my tune revision without it for this round. Would give me some time to run and data log and maybe get it at my next revision? order #5100

Sounds good, I will see if I can get things working this morning when I get off work. Seems to loose more RPM between shifting when having your foot into it. You can also hear it I was told from friends. Looking forward to a logging run!

@OVTune I understand you are busy, that's why I sent an email referencing my order 5325 12/4@ 11:22am.

Tomorrow will be three weeks since I sent my initial ECU info.

May I have an eta on my file, please?

Thanks, the truck feels really slow without the BD tune.

Haha, I put my BD tune back on for this reason! Worth it while waiting.
I did it For the throttle response alone...

Yep...that first tune you get is a dog...but it is safe :) I had a trip towing the toyhauler a few week's after my initial tune and had to re-install the BD tune for the trip and left it until I got the first revision back from Matt. Power picked up quite a bit after the first revision and has only got better with the next one's as well...

It is mostly the SC tunes that are sent initially really safe...I don't think the NA tunes are neutered that badly from the start.

I already have it. I think ECU is the crucial factor.

You should consider that you are getting a custom tune for your truck and give it time and several updates.

@OVTune There are no mentions of anything related to your software that is officially installed on my computer. I have searched through my Registry after not being able to find it in the Add/Remove programs like you instruct on your Blog (https://www.ovtuned.com/blogs/news/flash-manager-1-3-0-released-with-new-logger?_pos=1&_sid=5a447ca1a&_ss=r)
but I am also do not know the name of the installed program so I am at a loss.

I have dumped all installed programs on my computer to a CSV file if you would like to look through it and tell me what I am missing I would be glad to send to you. I used this command to extract the data

    wmic product get name,version /format:csv > c:\InstalledApps_%Computername%.csv

    Please advise how to proceed.

If there is anyone else here that has gone through the same struggle "please" help a brother out.

That's strange. When I uninstalled the old one, the file was under OVTune...

If I'm not mistaken, I think in the beginning that logger was sent separate. Let me dig through my email and see if I can find it. Maybe that would help you locate yours.

This needs to be sent to my zendesk.

if you never installed flash manager at any time, then there is nothing to uninstall.

I ran into the same problem and had to use 3rd party uninstall software to completely remove the old logger. The software was free but sorry I don’t remember the brand. After removal make sure all antivirus/firewall protection is off before trying to download and install the new logger.
The process was a PITA but I finally got it figured out.

Here is an honest review of the OV Tune and process so far. I’ll start by stating that I come from a strongly mechanical background, and have had 3 other vehicles remote tuned, street tuned, and dyno tuned by miscellaneous individuals, so I have a solid grasp on the majority of the process.

So firstly, I would assure you that Mat is working harder and on more cars at once than any other tuner I have ever encountered. Most tuners have maybe 3-4 active revisions on their plate at any given time, have practically no tune development items to complete other than basic tune adjustments, and still manage to have poor customer service and response times. Most tuners also have a “good enough” attitude, and don’t have the desire or the knowledge to even begin developing original new features. Mat is doing 10x as much, with 10x as much ability. Tuning is generally not a fast or stress free process for the vast majority of people involved, regardless what you drive and who is tuning. But I have been very impressed by his originality, dedication, and execution considering the amount of work he takes on.

Now, onto the tune itself. The main reason I purchased the OV Tune is because I LOATHED the factory transmission shifting logic. From gear hanging, to gear hunting, to early downshifts, the list goes on. The tune, in it’s latest form, is truly something to experience. Between gear locking, Direct Shift, and overall shifting and lockup strategy improvements, the truck finally behaves as I believe it should. You can cruise in 6th and lockup and the transmission happily stays there for easily twice as long as before. Around town, the shifting is crisp and decisive, as opposed to slushy and muddled. And because it stays in a higher gear and a lower RPM, you perceive the acceleration to be more effortless, which is a huge factor. Being able to accelerate at decent rates, beating traffic, and stay under 2500-3000 RPM under normal shifting strategy is just amazing. There isn’t much more power down in those RPMs I suspect, but you just finally have access to the existing torque due to the new shifting logic. Mat was even nice enough to custom tailor one of my shift points to my liking.
The power is certainly increased, noticeable really in the last 1500RPM or so. But similar to Mat, that wasn’t my main focus here. I wanted to stop hating my Tundra, because I truly did, and might have contemplated selling it. His tune has truly made me want to grab the tundra keys in the morning over anything else, it simply drives so much better than stock.

There seems to be some confusion about a couple things, and I’ll throw out my opinion on them to see if it helps. Firstly, Gearlocking vs Direct shift

Gearlocking - Once in a selected S-mode gear, it will stay in that gear as long as possible regardless of load. The transmission has to arrive naturally to that gear however. Say you are cruising up a hill at 45mph at 50% load and the transmission is in 4th gear. You flip to S mode and select 6th gear. The transmission will act as if nothing has changed, until you let up on load and allow the trans to naturally shift up to 5th and 6th gears. When it arrives to 6th, it will now stay in that gear regardless of load. Within certain failsafes of course.

Now Direct Shift - This will command a shift into the requested gear as soon as possible, regardless of load. This means you can be at wide open throttle in say 2nd gear and use S mode to click up all the way to 6th gear, staying at wide open, and it will execute those gear changes as soon as it possibly can. It seems to be within a few hundred RPM or about half a second. It. Is. Amazing. You can accelerate at wide open throttle and choose to never rev over whatever rpm you choose. Or you can bounce it off the limiter in 1st gear to impress all the ladies (not recommend).

Now since these features are similar, and are both tied to S mode, I suspect in the future they will rolled up into one package and called Gearlocking, with integrated Direct Shift Control, or something similar.

Now a little bit on the flash manager, datalogger, ps5 flash conundrum. I’m fairly tech savvy and I am still happy to admit that I struggled with this and became frustrated more than once. A step by step guide with pictures is definitely something I would recommend to Mat, as it isn’t difficult, but the process has changed almost every time flash manager and logger updates.
Currently, everything is built into the newest flash manager download. My suggestion, delete all existing programs from OV tune. Go to downloads and get the new flash manager. Open in and immediately update it (far right task bar option). Then you go straight to the ps5 flash utility in the other drop down menu, ignoring the year make and model sub menu that pops up when you first start flash manager. This opens our specific flashing program, which is pretty easy to get through.
The datalogger seemed pretty self explanatory as well, it’s just a few down in the same drop down menu as ps5 flash.
Again, if this is the final process, I would highly recommend a pictures guide to assist people through that process. It was easily the most frustrating part of the tuning for myself.

Ill wrap this up now, after reading all 75 pages of this forum probably 8 or 9 times during my tune process, I felt the need to contribute something. Hopefully it helps or encourages someone on here. But long story short, the tune is a process, it will take a minute, but anyone who pays attention to their truck will be impressed by the end result. Mat goes above and beyond with development, and you can tell by his work that he knows perfectly well that what makes up a well mannered truck tune isn’t a dyno graph and top end power, it’s all in the small details and improvements in driveability. All tuners can make power, only a select few can make it good to drive.

No, just the one at this time. In my case anyway. I'm just chillin', when the transmission tune for my truck is ready then it will get sent out. :rasta:

So did you flash just the. p5f file?
Or are you waiting for the TCU file before flashing anything? Thank you

If you have already flashed whatever he sent you previously, go ahead and flash the tcu tune. You will really like it. Shifts perfect

i only got the p5f from mat a few months ago. i have not flashed it yet. i started reviewing the instructions when i ran across flashing the extra TCU file.
so it's ok to flash the p5f file and ask mat for the TCU file for flashing later i'm guessing here.

Does Mat update a TCU file once you start sending him logs?
