I bought my Tundra brand new in late 2006. It was the first and only vehicle I've bought brand new. The intent was to buy a reliable vehicle to support my winter hobbies in the mountains, have an exceptionally comfortable truck, easy to load up and take the fam camping, and ultimately the first step in my grand plan to have a moderate tow rig that would suite my future hobbies. If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't have changed a thing. The Tundra has single-handedly been the most reliable and dependable vehicle I've ever owned in my life. Aside from the LBJ recall that was announced 3 months after I bought the truck, it's never set a tire in any shop for repair. It's always been the go-to for long road trips and my DD when I break the Tacoma.

Everything done to the truck has been done by me. Nothing to excess like my Tacoma. No DB lift, no obscene wheels, and certainly no mall crawler status. Just simple, reliable, and tasteful mods to fit my needs. The truck has a short hair over 70,000 miles on the odometer, roughly 1/3 of which have been towing miles. It's towed literally every toy I've owned over the last 7 years all up and down California and Nevada. The Centurion 21' wakeboard boat, 19' Weekend Warrior toy hauler, 18' flatbed loaded to the max with any and all the toys. It's been the stepchild truck, always out in the elements, but never lets me down. Without further adieu:

The making of the sub box was far from trivial. I utilized the cubby hole under the rear seat on the driver's side. Unfortunately there wasn't enough space for the 10's I wanted to use. So...I did what any hillbilly with a grinder, ford tool (BFH) and a welder would do...I made it bigger.

Looks very nice. I still like the nice idea for the sub box and want to have fun with fiberglass myself.

    Thanks

Personally, there's nothing fun about fiberglass. It's just a messy, sticky, time sensitive process. I didn't enjoy it at all. But it was the only way I could get the airspace I needed in the location I wanted.

Sure did. It was quite the haul too. From Tahoe to Pismo

LOL. Thank you, but there's really nothing BA about the Tundra. It's just been the crutch that has allowed me to do what's been done to the Tacoma. Ol' Faithful if you will.

Got some new wheels from Vin over at SCS. Could not be happier with how it turned out. The gunmetal is nearly a perfect match to the truck's grey.

    Thanks gents.

In other news...put 1400 towing miles on it a couple weeks go. She sure was pissed off going up and over the Grapevine...but zero issues.

@jberry813 its been awhile, but how is your ride quality with the bilsteins set at max in front? I am thinking of the same set up but with 285/70r17s instead

    That was so 2014.

Kidding of course but my first gen is long gone. Ride quality is subjective. I’ll never install Billy’s again on any of my rigs. But I also have very high expectations of shock performance.
