Yes. My lights haven’t been off of Auto since Ive owned the truck. It’s only happened twice so far but I’m wondering if it will start to be more frequent

I'm the same way. I leave them on auto. It has happened to be a total of 4 times I think. Each time i was stopped or slowed at an intersection of some kind and signaling left in cool-cold weather. Most recent was about a week ago and hasnt happened since, last year it was 3 times in about a weeks span and then a full year before it reared its head again. Very very odd

Edit: you're the first one to have the issue with retrofits, I have 18 OEM LED conversion with a very good harness from ihacker and a few people have had this with completely stock lights and electronics all together. I think it's an issue with the light/blinker stalk but I can't prove it

Adding one more Tundra to the mix. 2016 Platinum. No mods. Dealership maintenance only.

Below 40 degrees. Headlights on auto. Signal left, turn left = lights out.
I haven't figured out specifically what kind of manipulation restores the light nor am I able to reliably reproduce the issue. I have scheduled a service appointment in two weeks. I'll use these videos (thanks!) as evidence as well as proposed corrective measures.
Man I hope I included electrical in my extended warranty. . .

I also plan to report this to the NHTSA as well.

    Thanks all.

Same issue here. 14’ platinum, auto headlights on, cold mornings, blinker triggers event. Trouble shooting- if the issue is in the stalk(inside the truck) then why does the cold weather have an effect on it? I mean, I have my heat blasting so it’s not like the stalk is cold when the issue happens.

I filed a complaint with Toyota, all they could tell me was to go to a dealer. I managed to trigger mine today when smacked the top of my steering wheel.

    Working on it :-)
Happened to me this morning for the first time. 2017 1794 just over 25,000 miles. Early morning, about 50 out, lights on auto (2018 or 19 Pro Headlights with iHacker harness) I was going about 45-50 and was just merging right with right blinker on. I know about this problem because it happens on my friend 14 Platinum with no mods.

I think the fix is to replace the stalk with another stalk that will do the same in a couple of years.

You should also file complaints with the NHTSA and Toyota, maybe if enough of us do they will do a recall.

Hello. I had the same issue a few times in my 2017 1794. I submitted my VIN. Has anyone found a solution to this issue yet?

I just submitted a complaint as well. On youtube GearRunner has a video and hopefully a fix (signal stalk) that the dealership did. Thought mine was just in colder temps but it did happen in the mid 60's.

Unfortunately this has now happened to me too. It makes me feel slightly better to know I’m not the only one, but doesn’t change that fact that now I’m driving wondering when it will happen again. Will someone rear end me, will I lose my way around a corner, or etc. It’s 2 times now in the past week, turning left, lights on auto setting, 1794 crew max, ‘19 pro leds, ihacker harness. Can not replicate on purpose.

Replaced my combination switch today. I disected the old one and do not see any point of failure.

Does the replacement switch appear to be updated at all? And can I ask how hard of a job was it to swap them?
    Thanks

The switch looks identical. I had toyota do the work so that it would be covered. They charged me 1 hour of labor.

Just a thought, could this be battery related? Seems to be on 4-5 year old(end of battery life span) vehicles in cold weather. Maybe voltage is dropping??

Do not think it is the battery. Mine has been replaced and still has the issue. Anyone hear back from NHTSA? I submitted a claim over a month ago and they wanted more information e.g., video, proof of going to dealership, etc. Since providing that information it's been crickets.

Add me to the list of people with this problem, 2016 1794, it's my wife's, not sure if it happens with right left or both signals but all the lights go out at random when using signals on auto headlights

This happens to me a few times a month, I'd say (2016 Platinum). Mostly when I turn left, but I think it's happened on a right turn too - I honestly can't remember. I just replaced my battery about a month ago and it had no impact on this issue. It's annoying, unsafe, and disappointing that Toyota won't recognize the problem.

I have a 2017 Platinum and have been experiencing the same issue for the last year or two. Because it is an intermittent issue, I have not wanted to go to the dealership to have it addressed. The warranty will be expiring at the end of this year, so I am going to take my Tundra in this week. Thank you to all have posted to this thread. I will point out the stalk replacement comments to the dealership when I go in and will update with their response.

Add me to the list of victims. I recently purchased a 2017 Toyota Tundra 1794 with 23,000 miles and it happened twice within two weeks. I was not aware of so many others having the same problem. In reading the post, it looks like it is only affecting the 2016/2017 model years. Replacing the stalk sounds like it might be the answer, my work around has been not using the auto function on the stalk.

Nothing other than an acknowledgement form NHTSA that they received my complaint.
