Installing my bumper last night we noticed my CV was blown on the passenger side.. very bizarre seeing as the truck hasn’t had any crazy abuse in months. Haven’t had or heard of cv issues in the past with these trucks, did I miss something?

Can you post some pics? It looks like you aren’t running stock suspension... what are your suspension mods? Have you been in 4wd lately?

Where do you live? CV boots only last six months when I lived in Alaska. Everyone just got lifetime warranty ones and replaced them yearly.

But yeah, a pic would help. If it has enough of a lift that the bellows touch each other they will wear out in no time.

When you say "blown," do you mean the boot tore? Or did the CV axle snap? If the former, which boot, the outer or inner?

Photo attached, no rips or tears that are visible in the boot, looks like it Came through the collar. Dealership is taking care of me thankfully.

I have 3in lift up front with UCA’s and have over 400,00 miles on lifted Tundra’s since 07 and have never had a CV issue.

That’s what I think, too. Boot fins don’t even look like they’re touching, either.

Try pushing and pulling the boot. They commonly break cleanly near the metal ties or in the trough of a fin. How long ago did you lift? I’ve seen some Toyota’s go within 50 miles of a lift.

Lift was 4K miles ago. Dropping it off right now on my way to a duck hunt. The dealership is taking care if it thankfully.

    Not enough....
A band clamp just might have broken. Those OEM pinch clamps are fairly weak; I've have them break on my old 2001 Tundra before. I replaced them with worm gear clamps and have been fine ever since.

That's good the dealership is handling it for you, but if you ever see it again out or warranty and the boot isn't actually torn, just clean it off and check for a broken clamp.
