I would get those rollers in a heartbeat if I did not have two kayaks that were wider than the rollers and if they did not exceed the load capacity of them. ......

I got a CM because ALL my friends and family are full size, tall folks. Either wide or long, *anyone* will fit comfy in a CM. :)

The DC has about 1 to 1.5 inches more back seat space than my gen 1 access cab with the drivers seat set for me.
    No thanks.

IMG_20191024_183403.jpg Double Cab for me. I'll take bed space over cab space with just me and the wife at home now. Plus they just plain look better proportioned to me than the Crewmax.

Double cab with shell . 6.5 bed the whole point of having a truck is the bed for me. I would have gotten the longer bed but I trade trucks about every year and the long bed is less desirable resale imo.

I say a crewmax! The extra interior room is so nice. I went grime a 2011 double cab tacoma to crewmax tundra and ohh wow the the difference is so nice. Plus the rill down back glass is very nice to have! Good luck with your choice!

    None yet but starting asap
Picked up my CM on Tuesday and left for a Thanksgiving camping trip Wednesday morning. Put everything in the cab as the tonneau cover wasn’t in yet and more than enough room for everything. I have a bed extender for the hitch if I really need it but you can’t add interior room as easily.
Either way you will be happy

    Ahem...

I should point out that another “soccer dad” has the ATV hauling issue sorted:

...and by the way, I am technically a ‘dance dad’, as my daughters prefer point shoes to cleats.

    wait... that sounds even worse....

Double cab was a no brainer for me for my first truck. A 5.5ft bed is just short enough to be a total inconvenience for hauling. It works for people who don’t use the bed much and would benefit more from more cab space. If you drive family/kids around the crew max is the nobrainer there. For lumber, car parts etc the 6.5ft is way more generous and easy to work with.

Tinted & partially debadged so far!
I’ve had both (dbl cab now)...definitely the Crewmax. Much more room inside (if you need it).

DC for me. My favorite memories tend to start with a night spent in the bed under the topper, parked at a trailhead during hunting season. Beats the heck out of trying to set up a tent in the dark after driving for hours.

I am over 6 foot tall, have a topper on my truck and sleep in it for camping trips so double cab was an easy choice for me

A crew max with a 6.5 bed I will take it. Too bad they don't have it so crew max has to do for me. 2 kids and a dog in the back seat on long trips requires the extra room IMO. Rarely can I not fit things in my bed with tailgate down if needed, in the case I did I would go grab my 5x10 utility trailer I guess.
Fit 4 full size mountain bikes with front wheels off and a generator no problem for camping trips.
Everything else goes in the camper

I got a CM for the interior room with two kids in car seats! Then got a bed extender and have never felt the need to have a bigger bed. Plus the bed extender helps separate the bed for small things like groceries, etc. Worst case I hook up a trailer.

every truck i've owned has been an extended cab suicide door style; I just prefer the look of a shorter cab and proportionate bed

Just traded a DC in for a CM and I have to say, I prefer the CM for a number of reasons. I had a shell on the DC to transport my dogs when necessary. I even found a fan that fit perfectly in the slider window that allowed me to push cool air into the shell. I also used it for its intended purpose, hauling stuff. Made a few trips from Lowe's carrying sheet rock and other building materials. Fit was perfect. Now, with the CM, I do have the larger rear seat area that will allow me to transport said doggies, albeit with a blanket laid down on the floor and the seats folded up. As far as transporting building materials, I'll just have said material rest on the top of the tail gate. No biggie there and I get to enjoy that roll down rear window anytime I want. JMHO

I am on my third Tundra. 2010 Double Cab, 2013 Crew Max, 2020 Crew Max. I bought my first Tundra in a double cab because I wanted a "truck" and didnt want to be lacking in truck activities. I found out over the three years of ownership that I never even go close to maxing out the 6.5' bed. Enter my first crewmax. Holy shit the inside is so big! Love it! And once again, a 2020 crewmax. Love it. To me it depends on how you want to build your truck. If you want to do an overlanding build, a double cab might be the way to go to get more bed room.

I plan on starting a 50 state trip in 2 years after I sell my business here in Hawaii. Plan is to put a GFC on the truck with a decked system and then get a 26-28' airstream to set up basecamp in. I can use the GFC and truck as a satellite rig for up to 5 days of camping before I have to return to the airstream. After I leave Hawaii I am going to ship my Tundra to California and from there go to Alaska, and then the rest of the lower 48, take about 12 months to do it. I already have a crewmax but I am thinking a doublecab might have been a bit better for this but I am not worried about it, I sure do love the massive back seat of the crewmax.

Family = crewmax, for long trips with kids, they’re more relaxed and less of a headache for you. Double cab= Work and for short trips with kids and perfect for work if you need bed room.

I would have preferred DC for more bed room and better interior storage (from what I've read on here) but since my wife and I are planning to have two kids about two years apart, CM was the way to go based on feedback from others on here. Maybe my next truck will be a DC if my kids are short or this one lasts until they have vehicles of their own.
