The Judge was pissed at both of the lawyers. I was there,my witness was there and both officers were there, there were court rooms available.
he was not happy about them setting back the date

If you are having to pay monthly pre-trial fees, the Prosecutor and your attorney are just bleeding you out for as long as they can while you are out on bond. That is what they do here in Texas.

Unfortunately for the OP, he seems to at the courts mercy. The LEOs are getting the benefit of doubt while he has to prove his innocence. Or is not being alloewd to try....

I was giving a new public defender because the other one was transferred to a different courthouse.

Many moons ago I had a similar charge with crappy circumstances. My lawer finally got it dismissed,: it seemed cases like mine were given to Jr. DAs for the experience. knowing they would loose.

Unfortunately, this is the difference between a public defender and paid attorney. Public defenders are smitten with the local judges, they all hang in the same circles and get a check cut from the same dept.

    Litte update on this.

After over a year of going back an forth and them offering me(deals).
One day before the trail they finally dismissed it.
All they want is money, they dont care if you are guilty or not. Just want the money.
Riverside court house can suck it, so can California highyway patrol.

Not nearly as serious but I have a similar experience with what the cop called "failing to yield right of way".

I was sitting at a left turn into a shopping center. The light turned green "not protected green" and the person in the other car across from me just sat there. I waited and waited and waited again. I finally noticed the guy was combing his hair and pull hairs out of his nose.....

I turn left in-front of him and look in the rearview mirror and he is still sitting there on a green light 100 feet behind me. I literally go all the way across the shopping center and park...... and a cop pulls in behind me and hits his blue light.

Comes up to me and says that I "failed to yield right of way". I calmly told him that I waited and waited and waited and that he was combing his hair and picking his nose. He said "that doesn't matter".

I go to my court date and talk to the DA. The DA says that he can't believe it. He tells me that my story can't possibly be true. That there must have been an accident or something. We look at the report together.... and NOPE. Cop doesn't show up. DA offers me "improper equipment" or I'll have to come back to face what the cop "has to say" about it.....

I take the deal. That's been 25 years ago or more and it still makes me so mad......

I'm all for police but many can't handle the power they're given.
