    Hey guys,
2020 Tundra SR5 TRD Sport. I have the keyless entry and push button start. When using the remote start (either with keys or the app) the truck starts up, i walk to it and put my hand in the door handle as always to unlock and open the door and the truck shuts off. I then have to get in and restart it. I've asked a Toyota tech (family member) and he stated that's just how it works. Anyone figured out a work around yet?

    Thanks

Seems like majority of Toyota/Lexus vehicle with Push Start button will do this. There isn't a way around this, yet. I'm sure eventually someone will come up with a way. But for now that's how it is. Safety/Security thing with toyota/Lexus.

Ok thanks. It's definitely annoying though. It is what it is though.

Yes it is. Although, my friend with a 2016 CM, key start, factory install remote start, also does this. Which I thought was very strange. His should not turn off when you open the door, like yours. I dont know what the dealer installed on his CM but I also feel the frustration. It is pretty annoying.

Yeah it's definitely something built in then. I had a 14 Tacoma before this and had an aftermarket remote start installed. I could get in the truck with it started that way, but if i put my foot on the brake and tried to put it into gear, it would shut off if the key wasnt in the ignition (pretty sure that's standard for remote starters though)
