2019 Tundra SR - LED Conversion HELP

Alright well I guess my are installed correctly then according to the above picture and look no where near the output of some

 

Have you tried the highbeams to make sure you indeed actually installed then correctly? Like making sure highbeams don't go to the floor?

 

Yeah when I turn high beams on they light upwards. They are alright I should say I followed your post on installing on another thread and my high beams are alright I guess I was just expecting brighter? Not knocking anyone or anything just from seeing pictures everyone put up I was impressed maybe I got a bad batch possibl . But seeing your pictures mine are no where near that bright

 

Sorry the results aren't the same. Never claimed they were the best but they were "for me" a good alternative to replacing the entire headlight units. Also a good alternative that had a good factory cut off. There are a lot of cheap led bulbs that are complete garbage .

 

I wanted to post my experience so others have some current info. I too tried the "poormans" LED headlight upgrade and installed the Auxbeam NF-S1 (H4) LED replacements in my factory halogen housings. I agree with many others: Tundra OEM Halogen headlights are crap. I've never had a vehicle with such poor headlights. Anyways, I didn't want to spend the $600+ on new housings so for $34 I figure I'd give it a try. Many state you can't put LED bulbs in Halogen reflector housings. You can, because these are designed specifically to replace halogen bulbs in a reflector housing.

Installed them while doing my Fog Light install on my 2019 SR DC (didn't come with fogs from factory). I initially installed these upside down, re-read this thread and corrected it. For those who want to try this upgrade, I've attached a better pic of the LED bulb to show the "cup" orientation others talk about.

I had high hopes for this upgrade, but its still lacking. Its better than the OEM halogens, but just isn't what I'm looking for. The light has a blue tint to it (6000K). The highbeams are OK. I think the root cause of the issue is the crappy OEM reflector housings, hence, I'm going to bite the bullet and do the OEM LED Housing upgrade. Some may find them acceptable and not want to shell out big $$$ to replace the housings.

Anyways, here is a pic of the bulb and how it should be oriented. I circled the metal "cup" and the direction the opening of the cup needs to point (up). I hope others who want to go this route can same some reinstall time (only took me 10-15 min to remove the grill and headlight surround fender covers to rotate the bulbs).

 

Just installed new TRD Pro LED housings and for those considering the cheaper way of just putting LED bulbs in the original housings... there’s no comparison. I tried the AuxBeam bulbs in the old housings and it was a little better than stock halogen bulbs but not great. The new LED TRD pro housings are awesome - great light patterns and the high beams kick ass.

It’s well worth the $$$ IMHO. Best upgrade yet.

 

Agreed! I went the exact same route with the Auxbeam bulbs then the Pro Headlights. Best $650 spent

 

From the day I bought my Tundra I hated the headlights. First they were set on the lowest dial setting and only lit up about 15 ft ahead of me. When I figured out you could raise them in the cab, that helped a little. I've never had a vehicle with such bad headlights - that would be the biggest negative so far with the Tundra....but the new Pro LED headlights are legit.

 

@glowblue where did you get the adapter harness to install OEM LED headlamps? Hedlightrevolution sells the whole kit, headlamps, and harness for $960. Steep, considering I can get the headlamps themselves for around $560.

Tundra’s have a headlight light leveling dial - it’s on the left of the steering wheel near where the other switches are. You’ll see a thumb wheel switch with number positions 0-4. When I bought my 2019 new it was set on 4. Turning it to zero raised the headlight beam. The idea is if you have a load in the back you can lower the headlight beam to prevent blinding oncoming traffic if your front end is raised from the weight in the back.

I have had Chevys and Fords that never had this feature.
