Does anyone on here own a 2nd Gen Armada? 2017 or newer.

Looking at one for my Wife tonight. I've researched quite a bit. I've always loved the QX80 and this is basically that, and on the international Patrol chassis.

Looking at this for family trips and still able to tow with it.

Brother in-law are on their 2nd one, probably a 2017. Thier 1st one started using oil really bad, under 40k miles. Dealer did not go to bat for them, they didn't have proof of oil changes, Jiffy Lube or would not honor them. They finally found another dealer to work with them, to trade in on new.

I can't say I love it, not as posh as would have thought. More of a truckish ride.

Sequoia is antiquated. Wife wants all the tech.

Plus used Sequoia's are hard to come by low miles, and when you do find them they want almost new pricing.

I had an 05 titan awhile back; nothing but problems. If I am not mistaken they’re built on the same platform. Literally had every major repair possible done under warranty and a couple after warranty expired. The engine is a beast - the transmission and suspension can’t handle it. The list of repairs is literally endless......

Do the gen 2 use the same rear end as gen1? Because that gen 1 trans and diff were....lacking.

Yeah I don't blame ya there. I'm in the same boat, my wife likes German hatchbacks. Luckily it hasn't given us any major problems at 100k.

The Gen 2 Armada is on the same platform as the QX80 and the Patrol. It shares almost nothing with the Titan after 2017.

The QX80 gets excellent reliability scores and I would hope this is the same.

I should just be lucky that I'm not looking at QX80's right now $$$$$

My wife had a 2012 Armada which we bought new until it was totaled in early 2016. We ended up getting another 2015 Armada (they didn't make a 2016 due to the new style coming out in 2017). Both have been okay, but have had a fair amount of issues that I wouldn't have expected. Some of the repairs/failures include: Power Door Lock Actuator, Motor Mounts, Front Struts, Multiple attempts to get the alignment to hold - ended up getting new cam bolts with more play, but still didn't help, battery, brake switch was the most recent failure and the heater control valve. I'm not a huge fan of them, but maybe the 2nd gens are better.

Yea I can’t remember how small I just remember it was small. And that the frontier and titan carried a lot in common which led the frontier to be easily modified with titan parts (I did the titan suspension swap on my exes old 08 frontier, budget mid travel).

The Infiniti QX80 Reliability Rating is 3.5 out of 5.0, which ranks it 1st out of 19 for luxury fullsize SUVs.

Pulled from another site, most agree.
Based on ratings and cost of ownership alone it is more reliable than a Tundra.

It seems getting away from the Titan was the cure. The QX80 has been out for a few years now.

I have a 2017 Armada Platinum. Better tech than a sequoia. Ride is softer. It leans more in corners than the Tundra. I average about 16 mpg, but I drive a little too fast.

no issues with about 38k on the odo.

    She's home.
    Tundra is gone.
    I loved Tundra.
We're going back to a 2 vehicle household. The Armada will serve as my wife's DD, road trip vehicle, and camper hauler.
The Tundra sat in the driveway 25 days a month.

Whenever Toyota redesigns the Tundra the Armada should be payed off and maybe I'll get back in one. Until then I still plan on sticking around here. Too much knowledge and too friendly of a group to leave.

I will say, after 3 trips totaling more than 1200 miles, the Armada is a better tow vehicle than the Tundra. This is with the same camper, load, and routes.
-Tundra towing MPG, 7.5-8.5. Armada towing MPG 9.5-10.5.
-Almost same power, but the Armada feels stronger. Could be the 7 speed transmission as well.
-Quieter, plusher, smoother, more stable, less gear hunting, very smart downshifting to use engine braking.
-Combination of auto leveling rear suspension and WDH is rock solid.
-Armada has a higher payload rating than my 4x4 DC 5.7 Tundra.

I loved my Tundra. I'll own another. But after driving modern tech with a much more refined drivetrain, Toyota has some work to do on the next gen.

We've talkied about going this route. I love my truck, but I miss driving Sports cars. I need the truck to tow our 23ft boat. maybe next couple years we will buy the wife a big SUV that can tow the boat and I can go back to a sports car. Can we say RCF or GTR???? :)
