Bought second hand car for in law. Found out a week later it has a camera that appears to be stock on the tailgate. Truck in question is 2009 Tacoma SR5.

I tried to reverse to see if it would come up in the rear view but no luck. The rear view appears to be not stock as it is just stuck onto the glass and nothing going to the roof to indicate wires.

Are both of your rear backup lights functioning?
Have you checked all the fuses?

Sorry for late reply. This is my uncle's Tacoma 2009, we recently bought it used. It has a non oem rear view regular mirror for some odd reason. But I can see it has an OEM camera on the tailgate and wire is attached going from tailgate to the truckbed . I pulled down the roof liner above the stereo console and took a pic of the connection inside. Attached are photos. I assume an oem rear view would have a plug that would reach in there and connect up?

I'm thinking if I buy a OEM rear view with built in camera view it'll work? I just don't wanna shell out $200+ to find out it didn't work. Is their anything else I should check for before pulling the trigger?? Also, anyone know a website besides eBay that will carry the rear view mirror? I've looked to no avail.

    Cheers

Also, if you look at an 2009 Tacoma OEM mirrors connection it has two rows of 7 prongs across it's socket. As opposed to my uncle's Tacoma that has two rows of 5 ? Very strange. How would I connect that lol

Hi. My car rear camera had a problem some times ago. It couldn't show any pictures, but now we have fixed it. Does your monitor can show pictures? Does the indicator light be on or off? You can check if you have connected all the wires well or not first. When your camera stopped working? At the beginning? Maybe you can check if your camera is compatible with your car? This is the connection diagram of my car rearview camera, hope it has certain reference significance for you.
