I was looking into switching from fabric to leather using Katzkin. Anyone have any past experience going down this river?

I purchased and had installed a Katzkin interior for my 2020 SR5, and have been very happy with it thus far. The heating and "cooled" seats work great. My only caution would be to make sure that the plastic ducts that they install in the seat bottom and back are properly trimmed so you don't feel them when you sit in the seat.

Also, most of the surfaces, including all of the back seats, are actually vinyl. They only use leather on the areas of the front seats where your butt and back touch the seat. The sides, backs (facing rear seats) and head rests are all vinyl. The vinyl is a good match, color wise, to the leather, though.

    You can’t go wrong!

I did a self install of the basic black Katzkin kit, and I couldn’t be happier. Everyone who gets in the truck comments on how nice the truck is. Also, I installed heaters front and back. Everyone who rides realizes that have a heater, and are like “Thank you”. 9FA72957-E188-4B12-98DF-6756944BCA0B.jpgC786A679-2456-4DDC-B0B6-C70984ADFAE7.jpg 1C2EBF07-3262-453A-B202-FC5F1FFB46E3.jpg

One more piece of advice. If you get the heated/cooled seats, install the switches in a place where you can actually see the LEDs when they are on. The Katzkin installer that installed mine installed the switches on the plastic trim panel on the sides of the front seats, between the seats and the doors. So I can easily turn the switches on, however I can't see the LEDs to tell what level they are on. I have to think to count the clicks of the switches for high, medium, low and off (up for heat, down for cool).

As a side note, I contacted Katzkin before purchasing my seat covers, and they could not have been more professional and accommodating. Living in Southern California, where they are located, I actually went to their offices to look at swatches to select my colors, and they gave me a personal tour of the production facility. Very impressive.

Great product, everything hinges on the installer. I personally installed these kits 25 years ago or so they have been around awhile. Research the shop installing it more, that’s where your quality begin and ends with katzkin. Not all shops are equal

When I bought my truck used it had katskinz front and back. I never thought I would want leather in my truck but mine are heated and I love them.

Graphite with I believe cement inserts with silver stitching.

$1100 installed at my local truck shop. For more money you can do “premium” which gives you more leather in the back as opposed to more vinyl. Best money I’ve spent on the truck.

Dark Graphite and Cardinal Red. Installed before I took delivery. WAY better than the cloth in my last Tundra.

What about the Classio leather seat covers ? They are About half as much money. I miss heated seats in my new Tundra. I didn't think about it because it was about 100 degrees out when I got mine. Now theres a half a foot of snow on it.

I had Katzkins in a previous truck (Ram 2500 diesel) and they were A LOT nicer than the factory leather.

I put Katzkins factory model in my truck this August. They are very good quality. Better than my wife’s 4Runner factory leather.

Some observations. I believe this is a result of the Katzkins heated/cooled seats upgrade but the seat cushion is much higher now. After 4 months they are more comfortable and broken in. I’m not very impressed with the A/C function of the seats. I recommend getting the non perforated version and just doing heated seats. My .02

glad you posted this pic, very similar to what I just ordered except mine is black and regular red with perforation so makes me even more satisfied with my choice actually seeing it in the truck.

I Like the red stitching. Good call. It's funny, everyone at the dealer thought I was crazy when I ordered them but when the truck was delivered they all loved it and said they were going to do a floor truck with the same seats.

Love it. Had them wrap the console cover and the armrests on the doors too.

I told my wife I wish I’d done red stitching and then was going to do some minor accents like the AJT knobs in red. She acted like I was nuts. Still wish I’d done that.

I went back and forth on the red. I had originally installed the red vent rings but didn’t like the way it looked so i plasti dipped over them in black but i do have the red accented tough skinz console inserts and I do like the way those look. When I was picking the colors I came across a video with black and red seats and looked pretty sweet so I pulled the trigger on the red insert. Also having the TRD logo stitched on mine and will look something like this.
