Well I received a check engine light, took my 2019 Tundra in yesterday and they received a code P2757. This code relates to: Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Performance Shift Valve SLU. They are ordering a new transmission to replace the bad one.
    Read more: https://www.autocodes.com/p2757_toyota.html

When cold, It would not shift smoothly, was very jerky trying to find a gear and would not get above 60mph. I was worried it would not make it to the dealership. After it warm up, it did get better shifting gears and would maintain 70mph but, it was still was sluggish. Good news Toyota put in a rent-a-car free and has a brand new transmission on order and will replace the defective one.

What a disappointment. However What a relief that Toyota is standing by their warranty. I just got to drive a Enterprise POS 4Runner around until it's repaired.

Do you do a lot of towing? I wonder if this is related to the ATF temps from the 2019+ Tundras.

No towing and just light hauling.

Maybe you can ask Enterprise to exchange the 4Runner for a KIA.

nothings perfect. no car manufacturer that puts out the number of vehicles that Toyota does will have a 100% track record. the failure may have had nothing to do with Toyota and had to do with the company that built the tranny/torque converter etc. i'd take the new tranny and be happy as a clam. i'd try and get a new rental if this one isn't to your liking. youd be surprised what just asking will get you. my brother in law had some warranty work done and the rental car company let him pick his own on Toyotas dime. he got a f250 for a week. think of this as you getting a tranny that's shiney and new that "theoretically" will last 10k more miles than if yours was perfect to begin with. id call it a win honestly. don't worry, my wife hates my optimism too :D

All good advice ...thanks Jpneely. Hey plumber802 just wanted to respond, I guess I should have explain that the 4Runner is filthy ...my bad (I actually like the 4Runner as a vehicle) and will be taking Jpneely's advice asking for another CLEAN rental while my truck is being fixed. As far as the transmission goes I'm very happy that the dealership without hesitation explained that they are working as fast as they can to order and replace with a new one.

Make sure it’s new. I had the transmission replaced in my 2010 under warranty and they used a refurbished one. That one was then going out about 30k later. I ended up trading it in.

Not trying to hijack the thread but I hate Enterprise for this reason... their vehicles are always dirty, high mileage, etc. all the dealers around here use them for warranty loaner cars.

Back to regular topic... Agree with all others: say no to a rebuilt tranny!

It lasted me 8 years and I put it through a lot. When the trans was going out, it was hard shifting, holding gears, hesitating when shifting, wouldn’t go in certain gears. But during all that I still pulled a 4K lbs uhaul over 1000 miles from mo to tx and it made it. It never stranded me.

But my next truck will be a 1 ton when this ones warranty runs out.

If I were you, I'd have some fun with that 4Runner. Put it through it's paces, maybe see how it handles going where vehicles shouldn't necessarily go.

No worries Chet. I would still take a filthy 4Runner over any Kia though. I hope that you get the transmission issues resolved quickly.

Tundra907, get it in for a checkout soonest. My Tundra is back with a brand new transmission and so far all seems well. I never ever had any major repairs from any of my two Tacoma's and four pervious Tundra's.

My Tundra was in and out in a about 10 days. This was due to Thanksgiving holiday and ordering the new transmission. Once the transmission made it to the dealership, it was repaired in three days.
