Any hesitance at purchasing a 2016 Sequoia with 44k miles?

Looking at replacing our Oddy with a full size SUV. I miss my Tundra and was about to pull the trigger on a new one but with 3 kids we really could use the third row for occasional parent or friend that we want to take with us somewhere.

While a new Sequoia is doable, I just don't want to pay that much for one. I found what looks to be an immaculate 2016 Limited with bench (a must) and factory JBL audio and Blu Ray player (omg yes) with 44k miles. Its a CPO so that helps. It started its life in Mass but was only there from June to Decemeber, so not sure how much salt its seen but I will definitely check in on that. And from owning a 2017 Tundra I know to check the camshaft towers for leaking.

I am specifically looking for something to last 8-10 years. They're asking like $38k and I'm targeting $36k for it. Any hesitance at looking at this vehicle to drive for another 8+ years?

EDIT: Forgot to add, this is a 4WD model as well, which I know they run a little more than RWD. We drive to the mountains in winter as well as on the beach here so 4WD is mandatory.

Sounds like a good deal. I bet that things not even broken in yet. That’s about average miles for something that age. It’s about four years old with about 11 to 12,000 miles per year on it depending on when it was sold. Just check for surface rust and maybe give it a good treatment of something like fluid film or the likes.

If PO treated it well then it should be good to go. @War Machine has had several of these and his have lasted forever.

Sounds pretty good! I’d say haggle your best and see what happens. If the truck is super clean chances are it was well cared for. And sequoia sounds like a perfect fit for your fam. Post up some pics if you have any.

44 thousand miles ? Not bad, but for 38 ? anything under 35 grand for the Sequoia is a good price.

It sounds like a good deal. As others have said, do a good check for rust and other obvious leaks, but other than that it sounds like you might have a long term vehicle there.

Not even half way broken in yet...the sequoia is even better than the tundra.
You will only get about 800,000 miles out of it before you have to do anything besides basic maintenance so be careful o_O:bananadance::bananadance:

I’d have absolutely no hesitation at all with a Sequoia with that mileage. Our 2012 Limited is at over 200k and still running perfectly. Not only that, but nothing has ever failed on it. Nothing. Other than wearable parts like brakes, tires, etc, every part of that truck is still original. Hasn’t spent a second broken down in 8 years and 200,000 miles.

I can’t recommend the Sequoia enough. Drives like a dream, and built like a tank. Nothing has ever broken on the interior either. The chrome wore off the emblem on the steering wheel. That’s it. We’ve been all over the country in it.
This is just a hunch, but I’d bet it’s well cared for. People who own these vehicles tend to be people who take care of their stuff.

As for the price, it seems high, but I’m certainly not an expert. I do know that dealerships will move a ton on the price of a new one. The Sequoia is one of, if not the worst selling vehicle Toyota has in the US. It’s an outstanding vehicle, but doesn’t have the bells and whistles that people are looking for in a vehicle like this.

I’m not sure if it’s the same with a used one, but they’ll budge a ton on a new one.

We have an 04 Sequoia with 225K miles and that tank has been incredible. This summer , my wife has rear ended in the Sequoia and its fine, a little wrinkly in the back , but drives fine. The Jeep grand Cherokee that failed to stop at the red light was destroyed. I will never doubt the Sequoia's reliability , or the shittyness of Chrysler.

    I almost bought one..
There were a few I found online at local dealers with ~100K for like $15K.
When I went to the dealership they "had just sold."
I ended up with what I really wanted.. my Tundra.

I wouldn't hesitate at all to buy something like that. But then again I'm pretty handy with a wrench so even a Toyota with something like 150K+ doesn't scare me.

Well, I went tonight to check it out. It was absolutely amazing. Way smoother and quieter than my Tundra. The thing looks and drove like it was new, an absolute dream to drive. As bad as I wanted it, I almost walked out without it several times. In the end whoever put the deal together in the system for the FI guy to submit flubbed the number and I ended up with that Sequoia for $35k, which seems great for a 4WD Limited with the BSM and rear entertainment options. It was raining when I got home but Ill post a pic tomorrow.

I did have a momentary issue with it today that I'm going to post about in a new post. Hopefully it was a one time hiccup.

Not at all if the price and condition are right.

I looked at them before buying a Tundra (as I came from a 4runner, I like a SUV). But they were priced much higher than what I found my Tundra for. Do love a nice Sequoia. I would probably have one if the prices for them were in line with a similar year, condition and mileage Tundra.

Weird. Here in Texas I was looking at 2 sequoias that were priced 10k less than comparable tundras.
