Okay so juat recently my tundra has been acting up it does a long crank no start then long crank starts and rough idle with a very strong odor of gas.
Took to dealer did the alcohol density reset. No luck
Took back have had it for a week so far replaced fuel pump no luck.
Truck has less than 24000 miles on it and now im worried about problems down the road. I was going to buy after lease end now i dont know what to do
    And thoughts comments or suggestions??

I’d wait to see what they say. If it seems serious then turn it in at end of lease and get a new one. Could probably negotiate a better deal on a new one than a 3 year old leased one. It’ll cost more but also be new.

Bah, there's a TSB on that; ECU struggles to configure the air/fuel ratio coming into the rail. Stop running FF, or ANY ethanol mix. Go to an ethanol-free gas.

Hey you're a badger too. Citgo station on Luedtke has listing w/a 91 octane, no ethanol. Keep eyes peeled here in Wisconsin for a Cenex co-op near you too, they have better prices and usually an 87, higher volume sales with fresher fuel.

I had rough starting on my 2018 FFV recently. I experienced a long startup crank with rough idling after startup. On Monday it wouldn't start at all - just long crank with key in the on position. Tuesday it started up, idled rough, and then started fine for about 6 times in a row. Wednesday it was a long crank and multiple warning lights (CEL, traction control, trailer brake). Dropped off at the dealer Wednesday night - after getting it started it ran fine on the way there.

Fix was an alcohol density reset and recommendation to use fuel with less ethanol. I've never used anything other than E10 top tier fuel, so the recommendation is meaningless. Dealer said multiple codes were present but they were not listed on the invoice.

Truck has run fine Friday and Saturday, so I hope that is the end of it. My concern is that it happened at all. I've found countless threads about this happening with earlier models (2012-2016) but nothing with the 2018. So, it doesn't necessarily sound like the earlier fix may actually be the fix or the issue is continuing in later years.

Coincidently, I see Toyota is no longer offering the FFV 5.7 in 2020 Tundras.

Anyway, I hope my "reboot" is the end of it. The truck has been trouble free for 24k miles up until this. Hopefully they can figure yours out as well...

    It's not meaningless.

It means go to an ethanol free fuel. "Top-tier" is a sales pitch BS. This aint rocket science; ALL engines run better on gasoline that is free of ethanol.

It's meaningless to me. There is no ethanol free gas in my location other than at lake marinas. Up to 10% ethanol is standard at EVERY station here.

Top Tier is not a sales pitch - at least according to AAA and Consumer Reports...

Never left it. Run a bottle of Heet in your next tank of 87 ethanol free and then run nothing but that fuel.

NE Ohio. According to the link that was provided there are two stations in adjoining cities - both at marinas. I would certainly run E0 gas if it was an option. In my case I have only run E10 fuel for 1.5 years with no problems until a week or so ago. After dealer reset the alcohol density it has been fine.

So the dealer had it twice? Reset the alcohol density first time and no improvement? Second time replaced the fuel pump and no improvement? You always run 93 octane gas? At some point you added heet to your fuel and it didn’t help? This long crank is only when the engine is cold? Sorry for all the questions, I’m just trying to put this puzzle together so maybe I can help.

Uh oh, you didn't accidentally put diesel into her, from habit?

Yeah, if it's a lease and undriveable, turn it in.

Well if you put any significant amount of diesel in it the engine won’t start at all.

You said your tailpipe smells like diesel.... As an automotive technician I see multiple vehicles every year that will not run because people put diesel in the gas tanks. I’m not sure why you think that’s a joke? We are trying to help you.

Did you get any CEL or other lights or codes present? The symptoms I had sounded just like yours - long crank, rough idle, exhaust really stunk. I didn't get a CEL for a couple days but the dealer said there were various codes in the history.

I'm surprised the dealer gave the truck back to you if it wasn't fixed. I suspect your alcohol density % is going to be high.

The dealer gave it back when supposedly the flash reset worked but when i had to take back the following monday this past Monday, after they have installed a new fuel pump with same result they dont want to give it back .
Plus they actually said they have no idea what is wrong but my truck is still there

    Well guys and gals.
Today verdict came in misfiring on all cylinders and low compression in 2 cylinders and coolant in cylinders, so made the decision to trade.
    I now have a 2019 tundra crewmax SR5 4X4 super white
