I have a 17 Tundra SR and I’m trying to figure out if it’s possible to get rid of the bench seat, that has never been sat in, (waste of space) and convert it to a center console. I’m sure it can be done, but has anyone actually done it?

I’m going to leave the shifter on the steering column and probably do some custom fab work to the open space where the shifter would go in the console, if it can be done.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

It would be a lot of work,
I've never seen the inside of a 2014^ with a bench seat so it is hard to say.

From what I remember when I did my sound deadening on my 2014 DC, most of what the console mounts to are bolt holes in the floor.
Here are pics of the seats out.

    End result...

Maybe look under your carpet/seat and see if there are several unused bolt holes where the console goes.
    Sorry not much help...

if you'd like perhaps this weekend i could pull the top off and take a few more pics.

Up until recently I wasn’t even aware Tundras came with a front center seat. I’d love one on mine out the factory. Don’t even use the center console much.

All the cabs are the same. So, all the bolt holes should be there. Honestly, it should be a simple swap out, probably not cheap. I had a 1st Gen regular cab Tacoma that came with a bench seat. I traded a buddy of mine for his bucket seats and console, everything bolted right up.

It's been done. Here was an old thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/center-console-conversion-just-console-for-now.35528/

Doesn't seem hard at all and i'm sure you could source the parts from LKQ or a wrecker for far cheaper than new. OP in the post i linked did the swap for $170. Given you have a column shifter you could do something more practical with the extra space in the console like wire in a wireless charging pad where the shifter normally would've been.

I’ve found one, and only one center console, that a guy has for sale on eBay in Tyler, TX but he wants $350 plus $200 in s&h because it’s a freight item. I can’t even find one at the local junk yard.

You'll have to most likely end up driving far or spending some $$ to source one. I can't imagine they'd be too common. Not like a Cavalier or Ford Taurus

I noticed on my new second Gen. that the middle seat is seperate, unlike my first Gen. So it technically has bucket seats. So cant you just take your center seat out, and custom some sort of center console in there? It does not have to even be from a Toyota. As long as it fits and looks good, add you own mounting.

I have thought about that, I just need to do a lot of measuring to makes sure I don’t get something too wide or long. I’m decent at custom fabrication but I guess when it comes to my vehicle I’m not as confident haha.

Bench leather seats with 6th center seat, 6” rough country lift. Don’t like it. Loud fart box exhaust. Amp industries side steps.
You still interested. I just picked up an SR5 with a leather bench seat up
Front. Thinking of swapping for a center console.

sorry bro, I was looking for a center console to take the place of my bench set up. I was actually able to find one on EBay that came out of a ‘14 SR5 and it worked perfectly. Now I’ve got to figure out what to do with the cloth bench seat that came out of my ‘17.
