Looks like scratches to me. You wear a ring?
Not saying its okay, I'd be pissed if normal driving caused those scratches

Yeah, I always thought the 1794 was pimped out. That would complete the deal for me.

I have the same thing in my 1794. I first thought scratches but I don’t wear any jewelry. Today I was looking and there are several long cracks in the plastic. Also the front seats are not all leather as the side has worn and it has fabric under a very thin leather-like material. I am very disappointed as my King Ranch was all leather and wood not plastic

I’ve got a 1794 too. Haven’t noticed those cracks on mine but I put a cover on few months ago just to protect all I can.

No doubt we got the best engine on the block but some sometimes this interior kinda ticks me off.

2014 1794 owner here, cracks in my steering wheel also. Always garage kept so not really sun/heat related. I've seen this in older cars and am surprised to see it on my Tundra. I plan on doing the leather wrap to cover it up, it has gotten to the point where I feel it when my hand slides over them.

The wood steering wheels crack. I had the same issues on my Lexus LS, which is actual wood veneer, covered with a protective clear lacquer. I believe it's the lacquer that cracks, probably due to age and sun exposure. Those do look like scratches to me, though.

Ill check them out better tomorrow, but even wearing a ring, it does not even touch the area affected.

I own a 2016 1794 and the steering wheel has significant cracking at the 10:00 position. The cracks are severe and the wood is lifting up and peeling away. I contacted the dealer and then Toyota and both basically said tough luck.

This is a factory defect on-going across numerous years. I plan to cover the wheel with a leather cover.

ugggg only worse looking thing is the "RedRock" interior upper door coverings on Sequoias, horrible "melting" on those. Toyota needs to up their standards on the parts they buy compared to the parts they make....

Well I am now part of this club. I also have a 2016 1794. Truck is parked under the carport 98% of the time. So idk how this happened.

Went to dealer for service, show them, they took pictures, told me they would send it to Toyota, called me later and told me NO, it’s not a defect, looks like it got damaged......BS

By the way, wearing same ring and had my GX470 with same style steering wheel since 2007. Not a problem.

Yea I bet they will be claiming all the way that it is normal wear and tear.

It’s been my experience thus far that Toyota has been anything but helpful with the few issues I’ve had that clearly are warranty. They have been surprisingly unwilling to accept the obvious when it is in fact obvious warranty issue. I get that same impression with your deal. They know damn well that’s clearly not scratches, and what would any normal person do to create “damage” to a steering wheel. Thankfully outside of the few less than satisfying experiences I’ve had with dealer/warranty issues, I’m hoping over the longevity of the truck I won’t have to deal with them making another warranty decision. I’m guessing it will be just like the last two.....”Nope.”

I also have a 2016 1794 with these mystery cracks in the "wood" steering wheel. I previously owned an '05 Lexus ES330 and it never developed any cracks. And I don't wear any rings, so that's not the cause.
