Hit by a deer/hit a deer in suburban Houston tonight. Front end is ugly, driver side wheel and suspension is a mess. Radiator pushed in and leaking everywhere. Good times. I’ll start to find out tomorrow how bad it really is. I am ok , so the truck did it’s job. In my old accord that deer would have been in my face.

Sorry to hear that, but at least you're ok. I whacked a deer about 4 months after I bought my 2017.... Amazing what a 150 pounds of venison can do to a truck at 45MPH. Post some pics of the aftermath, and wishing your Tundra a speedy recovery.

I feel your pain. My 2019 was also recently attacked on the road. (Except it was one of those annoying little Prius creatures that did the damage). I was super thankful to be in my truck and not my Cadillac XTS that I drove before I bought my truck. There was a total of 4 vehicles involved (3 cars and my truck) and all three cars were totaled. The damage to my truck, albeit 15k worth, looked super minimal compared to the other cars.

Glad to hear you are ok. Sucks that your near new truck is mangled tho. Hopefully the damage isn’t too severe.

    Let’s see some pics!

Crappy luck in the suburbs. I hit a deer in middle of a decent size city. You never know when they will pop out.

Like others have said, glad you're OK, the truck can be replaced, you cant. This time of year (Rutting Season) is when you really have to be extra cautious because deer are even stupider than usual. I hit one about this time of year a couple of years back in my little WRX at about 60, and to this day, I'm still not sure how i avoided not being killed. Be safe out there.

Back when I had my 4Runner, a buck ran out in front of me. I locked up the brakes and almost hit him. So I did the only thing I could. I went home, logged onto Facebook, and put a bounty on him. I vowed a case of the finest beer for the man that brings me that antlered son of bitch's head on plate.

Wife and I hit one going about 45 on a Harley Road King. Killed the deer, totaled the bike. We both lived. I'd call that a good day.

Thanks for all the comments. Sorry I have been gone but it’s been a long week. I am fine, just some bruises and soreness. The initial estimate on the truck is 8k or so, and they are now doing the tear down to look for additional damage. Sadly, I think my just installed 7 day earlier Baja designs fog lights are trashed. Sucks but such is life!

Safety was one of the reasons I got a Tundra but wow on that FLIR unit. But $$$$. But worth every penny if you need it. It amazes me how many people I see driving crazy during rutting season. Constantly scanning but they can be hard to see and can just dash right into you. My closest call was a huge buck that veered of within inches of me when I was on the interstate and could not pull over to avoid him because the traffic was that heavy

Glad you and everyone who posted is OK!

Thermal cameras aren't cheap but if you're patient you can find a deal on eBay. Look at all the money forum members here spend on lights. Fact is, those still don't see out that far and if they arent dot legal or have too much glare you can't run them with other traffic on the road.

It's crazy how much the flir sees especially with other traffic on the road as there is no glare from their headlights.
