oh yeah i'm loving it. got the entire front end wrapped in xpel ultimate. truck coated in ceramic pro. ceramic window tints, diamonback hd tonneau cover and dirty deeds 8" standard system.

I can tell the stereo is different for 2020. It looks similar to previous years but it is different. We are all hoping to start buying up the stereos with apple carplay for our previous years. But it might be a challenge. Most likely wiring is different as well.

 

don’t get too excited. You’re better off just getting a different head unit and replacing the whole sound system. I have the 2020 platinum as well and the jbl system still is a hot pile of garbage.

 

How did you replace the door handles since it has the smart key access?

I actually plasti dipped them, saved myself over $400 and they match just about perfect, you can’t see a difference unless you’re literally 6 inches away from them, and even then it’s slight...I’m anal about my truck (and boat), so if it matches close enough for me it’s good for just about anyone...no one will ever notice unless I point it out...haha

 

which plasti dip did you use? and did you just plasti dip them or do that plus the gloss spray? i'd be interested in doing this as well because theres no way i'm spending close to $500 to color match the door handles lol

 

Yep, no way I can justify paying that kinda money for door handles...lol...I did a ton of research and found a guy who did this on his bumper caps...I used a combo of black plasti dip, Rustoleum Graphite peel spray, and Spraymax 2K clear coat...started with 2 light coats of the black plasti dip to give it a base, then 3 medium coats of the Rustoleum Graphite, followed by 3 coats of the 2k clear coat...if layered correctly it’s a near perfect match...I practiced on spare metal I had in the garage to make sure, but the best part about this stuff is if you don’t get it right you can just peel it off and start over, and still save yourself $400...hahaha

 

Got the Pop n Lock installed 2 days ago, and the LED kit installed in the bed under the PowertraxOne XR to match the boat/trailer...ran em on a push button switch and a dimmer so I can crank em up or dim em down to almost nothing, really come in handy on night fishing/hunting trips when you’re getting ready at the truck!

 

Doesn't the TRD Pro have all that?

 

TRD Pro doesn’t have all the same features...looked at that model as well but they don’t offer some things that I was looking for, so I decided to go Platinum and make the changes that I wanted...it was easier to go with the Platinum and change what that didn’t have than to go with the Pro and change what it was missing, if that makes sense...haha

 

Got the Rhino Rack installed over the PowertraxOne XR, very well built, nice and sturdy...easy on/off as well

 

Project black out the ‘20 Platinum is well underway, got the rims done last night

You could put the TRD Pro hub caps on your wheels, since you're recreating the pro look:

I usually use Bluewater LEDs, my boat and trailer are covered in them, but I decided to try LEDs by Outback Baits this time around, much cheaper...I will say Bluewaters are a little better quality but these do the job for sure!...have them on a push button switch mounted on console, then a dimmer switch in bed...hope that helps!

Will they fit the 20’s?...the description says for the 18’s, may be a stupid question but I’ve never switched out the center hub...haha

 

Crap, you're right. They won't fit your 5 lug wheels. Some guys on here use center stickers to overlay them: @Pinay might know where that thread is ...

I cant believe the difference the having the same rims, just dipped in black has on your truck! Not saying it didn't look good before, just big impact.
