This past week I experienced a long startup crank with rough idling after startup. On Monday it wouldn't start at all - just long crank with key in the on position. Tuesday it started up, idled rough, and then started fine for about 6 times in a row. Wednesday it was a long crank and multiple warning lights (CEL, traction control, trailer brake). Dropped off at the dealer Wednesday night - after getting it started it ran fine on the way there.

Fix was an alcohol density reset and recommendation to use fuel with less ethanol. I've never used anything other than E10 top tier fuel, so the recommendation is meaningless. Dealer said multiple codes were present but they were not listed on the invoice.

Truck has run fine Friday and Saturday, so I hope that is the end of it. My concern is that it happened at all. I've found countless threads about this happening with earlier models (2012-2016) but nothing with the 2018. So, it doesn't necessarily sound like the earlier fix may actually be the fix or the issue is continuing in later years.

Coincidently, I see Toyota is no longer offering the FFV 5.7 in 2020 Tundras.

Anyway, I hope my "reboot" is the end of it. The truck has been trouble free for 24k miles up until this.

    Shawn
