Cemented_Tundra Build

How she sits as of 6/20/2020. Got the SS Built bumpers installed. Still need to chop the rear bed fins and install my Solid Offroad motor mounts. Then adjusting the suspension slightly and getting a realignment.





Since the build thread has changed dramatically since November 2019, figured I’d refresh it with an update. Got a lot done in the three months of ownership, but so much more to do. One step at a time.

Had tint thrown on today. Small update, but much needed. 5% side, rear, sunroof and 25% windshield. Cue windshield tint hater comments

Side note: cannot get over how great the 2020 LED headlights look.

 

Hated the amber lights way more than I would have thought. Just grabbed a set of these and a new kit of nylon pry tools. Saw some good reviews on the forums here of the Fyre Flys. Got the slightly less bright ones as I felt the interior would be overkill with the 3014 kit. Read a few good Amazon reviews on the Brightstar reverse lights. Will update once installed.

 

Brightstar 921s that I mistakenly thought were for the reverse lights (bad google search) are indeed a replacement for the bed cargo lights. Base plastic is a bit thick at the connector and had to be slightly trimmed with an exacto knife to fit but they're a hell of a lot brighter.

 

Auxito 7440 reverses dropped in. I'll swap the interior and tag lights later this week.

 

Small update. Fyre Flys LEDs installed in the interior/tags. Everything is fully LED now. Went with the 5050 series...saw reviews on the brighter series being too bright for an interior. I'm satisfied with the look.

Order my DB Customz grille earlier today. Decided on Bumpershellz because eventually I'll be swapping the bumper out for a pre runner style bumper. They should be here next week. Then sending the unpainted ABS shellz to the body shop to be painted along with a 2018 lower surround trim piece a buddy gifted me for a true paint match on both pieces.

Once Black Friday deals hit for Toyota of Cool Springs, I'll be placing the last of my order for appearance modifications (hood bulge in cement, mirror caps, black door handles, etc).

After much research, I've decided to purchase a Lomax tri fold tonneau cover. They're 15% off right now so I will be purchasing that tomorrow and it should be here by December. Slowly but surely moving along.

 

Here's the style of grille that DB Customz is making for me. It will say "TOYOTA" instead and will be black and cement grey.

 

CKatz, what happens to the sensor that is in the oval sombrero piece on 2019s and newer?

 

How do you plan to do the chrome interior delete and exhaust blackouts? Vinyl wrap? Paint?

DB Customz has an insert that allows the TSS to be used. A simple bracket to relocate it from the original housing. I'll have to find the link.

@5foot2tundra see link below. Spoke to Danny at DB Customz and the relocation bracket is included. If you look center grille below the font, you'll see an opaque looking panel where the TSS sits.

Theres a DIY of the exhaust blackout on this forum. Chrome interior trim will be popped out, scuffed, etched and primed, and painted matte.

 

Katz, is there a reason why you went with the Pedal Commander instead of the Sprint Booster or one of the other brands in this modification?

Lomax cover delivered and installed. Was relatively quick, just cold as hell outside. Bumper Shellz came in as well. Still waiting on my DB Customz grille and some stuff from Roman to come in. Then I'll de-chrome the truck after stuff comes back from the paint shop.

Ordered all the DIY parts needed off Amazon for the pop & lock and auto tailgate opening feature.

 

Same reason I went with Peddle Commander.

@Ckatz53 i’ve got relatively the same truck and just did the flat black overlays as well. What are you thinking for the chrome on the new door handles? That’s going to drive me nuts as the only chrome left on mine.

 

I ordered Sequioa matte black handles for the push to start models with the auto unlock feature from @Roman. Just waiting on everything to be packed up and shipped to me.

 

DB grille showed up today. Got one made up like the one they had displayed on the SEMA truck a little while ago. Waiting for the bulge to be here and I'll get everything dechromed.

 

How are you rigging the sensor on the grill? It looks outstanding!

 

They have their own TSS sensor relocation bracket built into the back of the grille
