Ya the compressor is great. No issues there. It’s just how the engineers decided to make the air line go over that ring gear that kills me. I have the parts to replace it one final time. I replaced the seal housing the second time and it went out even faster. If it happens again after I do it, I will go with Eaton when it becomes available. This is how it looked the first time. I will take pics when I replace it myself, can’t wait to see what I find. Good times.94855520-2A6E-44C9-966F-6975B02527B7.jpgD93AB6F5-49A7-4FA9-816C-4FDB54230396.jpg04C86067-6F9C-4797-ABE5-C01777475757.jpg

Question, could one install the rear locker for say a year and then add the front later, will the system work that way?

The system doesn’t care if you dont have a front locker. But you want to regear when you do a locker. Its the same labor cost...dont pay twice to open up the rear

Kinda looks like it it might have been a clearance problem on the install, one wrong bump and it will put a hole in the line. Did they remove the complete rear end or just take the differential out?

And I would need to re-gear why? Not trying to be smart, I just don't know...

    I

If you wanted bigger tires too. Just a thought if you were gonna break the diffs open anyways.

The front locker has been around for quite a while because it was developed on the front of the 200 Series LandCruiser. The Tundra’s front diff is the same as the 200 Series.

There are basically no Tundras down under for whatever reason and Harrop said that they had one that was at their shop for a while when they developed the 2650 SC and it so happened I was contacting them a lot asking for info on an ELocker for the Tundra. I am sure I was not the reason they did it but it all worked out timing wise.

You would not "need" to regear and especially if you only put a locker in the rear and then plan to come back later to do the front.

That would be an expensive move if you regear because you pay to have to rear diff installed and if you regear you pay for the front to have the gears installed. If you are happy with your current tire size and they way your truck moves then why regear?

I regeared and currently at 125 miles into my 500 mile break in

I do not do rock crawling, but I do move trailers around West TN loaded pretty heavy and I plan on staying with my stock tire size. 90% of my driving is road work, but the field roads in winter can be problematic. I hate having to call my father to come pull me out with a tractor when I am driving a $40K "4 wheel drive" truck.

I plan on this (2015 CM SR5) being my last truck, I am 66 and if this one last like my 2000 Tacoma (guy that bought it is still driving it, sold it at 345K miles) it should do me, as I drive this one a lot less than I did that one. I have added a few things to suit my needs, decent headlights, killer back up lights, got 6112s and 5160s coming in for install next week.

These e lockers are the next thing on my list to get the truck where I want it to be.

I bought this truck to be my last because of health issues and I am 57 so I hear ya. If the truck performs as you like it with stock tires then you will be fine with a locker(s).

if you're worried about "field roads in winter" you should be looking at an auburn LSD, not a full locker

what are your symptoms when this line get a hole in it? It just doesnt lock? Or does your compressor constantly keep running?? Air out of the diff breather?? I just want to know what to look for in case it happens to me or anyone I wheel with

If you get a hole in that line your air compressor will never shut off. If you have a leak in the line or the infamous rubber o-ring type seal ARB Engineers decided was the best thing since sliced bread (don't get me started) then the compressor cycles constantly (shuts off then on shortly afterward and repeats)

The compressor stays on the entire time. Then you’ll hear it in the diff as well as out of the diff breather. I hear it in my tail light cause I relocated it. It will NOT lock when this happens. I lifted the rear of the truck and tried it. No air no locker. Never had an issue with the o ring, just the line.

Was not aware you could put one (Auburn LSD) on the front end of a Tundra?

Dragging out a 18' trailer loaded with cut firewood, on a two-rut dirt road left by logging crews can leave some pretty nasty, deep, muddy slick clay traps, both differentials locked can save a lot of walking, digging and winching.

The locker needs the air "pressure" to lock and hold the lock until air is released.

Also talk about finding out the hard way, I was in Colorado way the hell up in the mountains and we came to an up hill obstacle with no by pass. I got to the bottom and turned my compressor on (back in the LandCruiser days) and the compressor ran and ran and ran. Everybody gathered around my rig and nobody could figure it out. I have to be winched up, first and only time and I was not happy. Later at lunch I am thinking WTF happened to my compressor? How will I air up without bothering someone? Then it hit me, in order to compress air you need air to compress and at 10,000+ altitude there is very very thin air. I asked others to turn on theirs since they all had ELockers and same thing just run and run. For the next several days of our trip I had to fill up my air tank before I left camp in the morning before climbing up. The tank held plenty of air to last through the days requirement of air locking.

    Just an FYI

So compressors won’t work at 10,000 ft?Hmmm. Never tried using my compressor at that kind of elevation. Good to know.

Damn. I haven’t had that issue yet with the compressor. But good to know. I’ll try it next time I’m in the mountains.
