    You can polish a turd all day long, at the end of the day it's still a turd.

    Never let a friend or family member borrow money.
    It's better for them to be mad at you for not letting them borrow it, rather than you being mad at them for not paying it back.

    My Pops (Grandfather) told me this and I didnt listen. Got burned more than once by more than one person.

    I THINK, could be wrong, that Ben Franklin said "Niether a borrower nor a lender be."
    I don't loan anybody money. I give it to them, and if they feel the need to pay me back they can. I won't give more than I can, and so far this has worked out. I'm not going to go into debt or ruin myself to give to someone else. If I did, then there'd be two of us needing help, and that is just bad math.

    Once Reduced.jpg I worked for a Staff Sargent on the graveyard shift at an Air Force Base. Singletary liked to chase the ladies and didn't get much sleep. He came in for work and asked us to cover for him ~ he hid in the back of the shop all curled up with some blankets and pillows we had on hand.
    "Be sure and wake me before shift change," he said.
    The next morning he was completely refreshed.

    "That's the best night's sleep I had in months ~ I'm comin' down here to sleep on my day off !"

    Well, he slept at night this time and he'd been up for at least 32 hours before he reported for duty that day.

    Moral of the story;
    Working the graveyard shift you never, ever get used to being up all night and sleeping during the day . . .

    Dad; If it ain't bleedin', it don't hurt.

    If you hear more than two shots...get. ready, it's comin' atcha!

    Dad when I was in trouble (the one that always got me); I'm disappointed in you.

    Buddies dad; anything free is worth saving up for.

    First boss; when it's hard, wrap your hand around it. What's left sticking out is all you give her, any more than that and she'll fall in love!

    Two that I pass on; spit cups are for pussies

    And honestly it is how I got to be where I am today. By thinking before I did something stupid to get into trouble...by thinking about who I chose to be around.
