Thinking about getting the compustar 4900s remote starter from the local ziebart for $329+tax. This is the 3000', 2-way, 4 button system with the optional drone-mobile app. My question is that the fob has Start, Lock, Unlock, and Hatch. My questions is: What does the 'hatch' button do for us? Is there a way for that to communicate with a pop & lock? or would that just be a lost feature for our trucks?

It's been many eons since i've installed an alarm, but if it activates a dedicated output on the brain box, you can wire it to a tailgate lock solenoid.

OR you can wire it to:

Don’t see the benefit of having a dedicated button for just the tailgate lock, kinda like having a dedicated button for each door, a bit overkill. You could use that forth button for other things like rolling down all the windows or just the back window, etc. I’m not much help on how to do this, but it’s possible...

I have the one way version and my wife just got the 2 way for her 4runner. that hatch button does nothing on hers. i would consider it a lost cause but that is just me. my reason for posting is i am a huge Compustar fan and have had several. I had the 1 mile on my tacoma and i loved it

You would just need to install an actuator and relay/solenoid that’s powered by the door lock/unlock wires to pop open the trunk, see the power tailgate drop mod for similar instructions. You can wire a pop n lock to anything that’s otherwise opened manually with a cable or rod. I’ve got the 2 way, 1 mile compustar too, it’s awesome.

I have this same starter. Every time I start the car the horn beeps until I hold the lock button. Anyone know why this happens?

Are you saying your alarm is going off or just random horn beeps?

Believe it’s the car alarm. One time it sounded like it was the panic and alarm at same time. Offset continuous beeps. So far I’m not too happy with this starter
