2016 CM SR5 5.7 cold start issues

Guys it has got cold here in the Midwest and the 2016 CM (33,000 miles) is having cold start issues. When is cold starts it chugs heavily for about 15 seconds (super fuel rich) then clears up. I dropped it off at the dealer and they called Toyota and they want to do a carbon cleaning of some sort. I bought the truck from a Toyota dealer about 6 months ago. The dealer is telling me it was in the shop previously for the same problem and then was traded in. I have read some posts regarding FFV issues and mine is not a FFV. Anybody had such an issue? Dealer said definitely not normal. FYI it is a certified vehicle.

 

Welcome from NC! I have only heard of this issue with those that run E85 in their FFV engines. Please keep us updated.

 

OP you ever get this figured out?

I’m recently having the same. Especially cold start on colder days. I’ve got to pump the gas pedal in order to get it going. I know I’m due for new spark plugs (104k Mike’s on her) but I don’t know if this would have anything to do with it.
