Decided to go the 5100 route all around.( they were cheaper than the 4600s? online)
Really unsure if my shocks are bad but at 260000km(160k miles) I'd imagine there weak.
Still debating on which setting, either the lowest or middle. I measured ground to wheel well and have 36.75" up front and 39" in the rear...with cap on, 275 65 18 tires.
Should I have order any bushing as well?...talked to the manger at my Toyota place and said he has never seen the bushing bad enough to change out in the front.
I'll do the rear myself unsure if I want to tackle the front

160k? Man those shocks were due for replacing 100k miles ago lol.

Unless you have play or bad squeaking in the front end...drive it till the wheels fall off.

Bought the truck used so don't know what it felt like newer.
Always had a truck though but all older and road like old trucks with big retreads on them.
Kinda treated myself to this truck, I think these new 5100s will be at least as good as what's on it now.
If I go on the middle setting I'm thinking I'll get a light weight helper or add a leaf...the leads probably could use some help as well.

Picked them up today...one of the adjustable shocks didn't have the kit in the box. Called 4wheelparts they will get one out to me soon.

If I go middle setting I'm thinking I'll want a AAL or helper spring. Only have a little over an inch rake now, wouldn't want any less.

Finally going to install these Monday...middle setting unless I change my mind to the lowest setting. Have new wildpeaks to install as well 265 70 18...just abit taller and narrower.
Thinking it's going look nose high as theres 1.5"s difference right now and seems even.Going to need new leaf pack so can correct that issue with that,if need be.

Finally on,5100s all around, middle clip, no shims, nothing but worn leafs in the rear.
I'm 38.5" front , 39.2" rear, raised me 1.5"s more really but new tires added .5"s.

Good for now, when I put new leafs in the rear I might add a shim(2)but don't think I will go to top clip. Haven't driving far enough to say much about the ride but so far seems as good as stock. We have pretty rough patches up roads here anyways.

Hasn't been a week yet but really liking my decision. Between tires and shocks, the front raised approximately 2"s, it really changed how the truck "feels". Steering seems "smoother" almost easier but that is probably due to the height increase or tire compound more than the shocks. I cant say i notice much difference(better/worse),over pot holes or bumps on pave but my decision for 5100s was more for leveling and not performance.Dont get me wrong, I don't want them to ride like crap either. I'm not a hard core 4x4er, mostly pave, gravel,fire/sled roads and feilds. Plan on leaving in a bit to see who is getting all the deer in the backwoods, so maybe 200 miles this weekend, probably some wash board and lots of gravel, be a good test.
I'll keep people posted on how they feel...good or bad.

Airbags in the rear would work out for you better than springs. 6D70B2B7-39A0-42DB-AA67-EC5376C5CFD6_1_201_a.jpg

Bags would be better, but my springs are shot. Posted a picture somewhere on here and they were flat at best. I can live with it for now but springs are in my future. Hopeing that with the weight I no longer carry back there it will be good.

I think the rear leafs on these trucks all look flat regardless of age or miles. When I did my bilsteins 5100s, i went middle setting and it was perfect. I added a fiberglass topper and noticed it definitely weighted the back down and was way closer to level. Once we got our TT and w/the WDH i was always nose high, airbags were one option, but I also wanted to lift the back to have a factory look w/rake, so I went with the ToyTec shackles. They have two settings 1" and 1.5" lift. I went with the 1.5" to give the entire truck the same lift and getting back to almost factory rake. Just another option for you to consider.

I understand on the front you just reuse the current coil springs but if I wanted to get new coil springs and set these up prior to installing on the truck what springs should I look at?

I know what your asking is possible, plus you can change the poundage of them if you want a softer ride or need heavier ones if you have a aftermarket bumpwr winch etc.
You might want to start a new post, your question might get lost here.
I'm thinking toytec should be able to help you , if you don't start another thread.

I never looked at prices but it might be cheaper to order pre assembled coil overs.

Should I be able to c the top groove if I'm on the middle clip setting?
    20191029_102636.jpg
I'm thinking it's good, the height raise seems right.

Yea i can see the top groove using the middle setting. I am guessing someone else did the work and you are QCing it?

I put it in the middle when I left my truck at the garage.
Reason I'm questioning a little is that the owner never installed this style shock, had to explain the perch direction and clip setting. He was wanting to leave it stock(not even possible, I know) and then was saying the first clip would be better on the truck....you know cv angles, diff. drop etc.
Anyways, thought I was done the way I asked due to the height raise but your answer reassures me....thx

Good to know. I put 5100's on my 07 Tacoma on middle setting and it rode rough. Lighter truck though. I ended up ordering HD coils and going back to bottom setting on the 5100's and it was money. Going to get the 5100's for my Tundra soon.

So the bottom setting/groove would result in stock height, for future reference.
