    Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has any experience installing the OEM hard tri fold tonneau cover from Toyota? I can't find any videos or how to's on the OEM cover.

My contact at the dealership said "the tundra hard tri-fold tonneau cover is pretty difficult to install. there is no drilling involved but there is alot of measuring and installing of brackets and the instructions don't come with the box" ... what the fuck, why not?

This tonneau cover has been ordered for me from Toyota because my new truck came with a dent in the pan from the dealer. I live 8 hours away from my nearest dealership so I opted to get a tonneau cover instead of having to take time off work for them to do body work (they quoted the damage at $1600). Now that the dealership has the tonneau cover in they are telling me that they will not cover the shipping costs to ship it to me. I have a friend that will be in the city who can pick it up for me, they said its fine but I would have to be responsible to get the cover installed as they do not have anyone to do the work where I live.

Not impressed with the customer service I have received thus far from Toyota.

Anyway, long winded rant over. Should I attempt to install myself or suck it up and make the drive.

Some one makes that cover for toyota, Extang Lund truxedo Bak. Try to match your cover to a after market cover and see how they are put on. My Extang was simple, just laid it out to see were the brackets went and aligned everything and tightened it. They are full of BS. It’s not hard. They want you to go to them. You can do it!!!

It literally couldn’t be easier to install. Not sure what the guy is talking about regarding difficulty. It’s a nice cover and you’ll be happy with it. That said I am
Not sure I would have accepted it as a replacement for body damage

What I have heard is the thing may have to be assembled when I was talking to the sales guy after I followed up with him to see if they would cut me a deal but sure he was trying to get me to let them install it. I would ask @Roman.

Good to know. Body damage is a little excessive for describing the very small dent in the pan. Like I said I live 8 hours away and would have to take time off work to get the body work done as they are only open monday-friday and I work monday-friday.. Here's a picture of the dent under the "R".

If you can get a free tonneau I'd call it good. I thought you were talking about the body. That's nothing

Yeah that’s nothing; I was thinking it was body damage on the outside of the bed. As far as I know, the tonneau comes assembled already. If you have to assemble it that may be a bit difficult.....but haven’t heard of that before. My neighbor is a gsm at a high volume store and said they come assembled. That seems like a good compromise and you’ll love the tonneau

Toyota stopped putting instructions in all of their accessories. They uploaded them all online. Here's the instructions for installing the OEM tonneau cover:
