It was super easy to install an I'm stoked to have it to warm up the the truck in the morning. It was 27 when I got up this morning!

A couple of things...I have an aftermarket stereo and it connects to the OBD II and it keeps the stereo on when the truck is shut off.

The other thing I noticed is if the truck is locked...I can't get the remote start to work. I have to unlock the truck first then press the lock 3x and the remote start fires up? Anyone else notice this?

    Thanks,
    Dan

Also.... Just noticed my drivers side Amp Research running board half opens and then closes when turning off the truck with the CarLink phone app. Passenger side doesnt do it.

What did you get figured out on the CarLink issue? My remote start is working great, however when I plug in the car link, switch ON-OFF-ON, I never see a red light flash? Am I not waiting long enough?

image.jpg Also- I understand black goes to blue on the remote, but does blue go to blue on the harness to CarLink or does black also go to blue there as well?

I didnt have the cord hooked up right. (I had a small harness with two female (Black and Blue) and one male (black) leftover I thought it was extra or for a different model. But you gotta hook the blue to blue coming out of the carlink, and then the black male on the other end into the small blue spot on the Fortin. There should be one open female end that doesn't plug to anything leftover. After that. Key on, off, On... Step on brake 4 times and little red light will flash on Fortin. (Not the red and blue LEDs on top). Its a small light by the cut cord. That outta do it. Worked for mine

Yes....those blues go together. Then the small black male end goes into the little blue spot on the Fortin

While I was waiting on a reply, I just plugged all back together and got it to work finally! Thanks for help! All things are working good from the app but my next question is how do I get the app to NOT be in test mode?

Go to where it says release vehicle. Click that. Then type in the code off the top of your CarLink again. Will take it from test mode to full.

I just ordered a kit for a 2019 from James and the plug-n-play harness from 12voltsolutions. The deal is still going on.

Ridiculous a Limited doesn't come with a remote start, but in the end it's to my benefit. I'm so excited it won't shut off when I get in it like the factory remote starts do!

Can someone link the 2019-2020 harness we have to buy from 12voltsolutions in order to make this kit plug and play?

Can someone please explain how the carlink works? I get that it's an app, but how does the service work. The first year of service is included in the GB price, but is there a monthly/yearly cost after that? Who provides the service?

Answered my own questions. For those that have it, is the car link worth it for $40 a year?

I purchased the car link after I purchase the remote start and prefer the app more than key fob. Also I have a pop n lock and when I use the key fob my pop n lock actuates 3 times and was annoying with the app it doe not

check the light on the gps unit in the car. or maybe a pin shook loose in the car. double check all that stuff and also check your app where it says service status. could be an issue they are working on

This helped me tremendously! I deleted my install instructions from James by mistake and couldn't figure out how to get my CL6 to work. 30 seconds after reading this, BAM, CL6 is up and running!

I have mine install with the car last nk and everything seems to be working except the car link still says test mode. How do I get it out of test mode and the cool tundra pic on the app?

~Random question~ my job takes me to rural areas where cell service is poor, talking 1 bar and 1/2 bar if it was a thing. My question is, would putting a cell signal booster on my truck help the Car Link obtain a better signal?? :monocle:

For anyone that is on the fence, this is a great DIY option. I went back and forth between this, remote starters on eBay, and offerings from professional installers. I could not be happier with the simplicity of this set up, or the fact that I can use my factory remote. Installiation is pretty straightforward-- just watch the video that James provides, and the video at the beginning of this thread. You can knock this out in 30 minutes or less.

Big thanks to @james@tech12volts and to the Tundras forum at large for promoting products that work and for providing the know how to get it done. Couldn't be happier.

I realize I am going to absolutely embarrass myself with this post but I figured I have to for the greater good. The purpose of my post is three fold.....let me explain. I purchased the remote start from James and received it today. Not wanting to cut the tpms wire I ordered the harness from 12 volt solutions. I got home from work around 9pm and wanted a distraction from some stuff and decided to pull the truck into my father in laws garage to install it. The install went easy as Pie. I took apart the dash, sill and steering wheel shroud; ran the wires, installed the module and programmed. Went outside of the car, pushed the lock button three times and the car started up just like it’s supposed to. However, when I went to unlock the door nothing happened. I could see the light in the dash blinking when I pushed unlock but nothing happened. The truck was running and I was locked out. In an absolutely embarrassing brain fart moment I panicked and called James at 10pm. He picked up right away. Yes I am an a-hole and I apologized profusely. Explained the situation and said I couldn’t get in the truck. He told me right away that since the tpms light wasn’t blinking on the dash it was not hooked up correctly. I said ok but how do I get in the truck? He responded in the most polite and non-patronizing way “you have the key don’t you”. ‍Needless to say I was embarrassed and thanked James and apologized again for my lack of discretion calling him that late. I post this for three reasons:
    1. The tpms harness from 12 volt solutions goes into the bottom white harness of the driver side kick panel. It will ALSO fit in the middle white harness of the driver side kick panel. Ask me how I know....
    2. The video that is provided walks you through the entire process and is very helpful.
    3. The customer service that James offers is second to none. For him to pick up and calmly explain what I needed to do just goes to show what a great guy he is and what great products he offers.

I can’t say thank you enough times James. Thank you for being patient and understanding with me tonight. And I encourage anyone who is on the fence - deal with James with confidence. He is simply the best.

I agree - if you can’t laugh at yourself......or something like that. As embarrassed as I was, I was laughing at myself. I even went over and had a beer with my neighbor afterwards and told him the story. He laughed at me while I was laughing at myself. I REFUSE to tell my wife though.
