Just got back from the dealer. Passenger’s side cam tower leaking... argh. Been smelling oil burning occasionally and figured it would be bad news. Truck just rolled over 60k on the way home and has been over-maintained and babied. Frustrating.

Any Canuck guys or ladies had to deal with this? The dealer only wants to do the one side. Anyone had any luck pushing to have both cam towers ‘updated’? Just over a year of warranty left- I don’t want to be paying for the driver’s side out of pocket later...

I personally havent. It seems to largely affect 3rd gens in comparison to 2nd gens. Surely they will have to do a recall at some point given its severity? Hopefully someone who has dealt with it will chime in but i would definitely push to have both sides done considering it seems to only be a matter of time and your truck is only 3 years old.

I had it on my 2015 at almost 30k km.
    I had both side leaking.

now I have a 2017 pro and I believe it has it too on both side. I knew this before I bought it and yes I still bought it cause I knew I was ganna take it back to the tech that did my 15. He did an awesome job and I still have factory warranty. To me it wasn’t a deal breaker, and I got them to go down on the price.

It would suck paying that out of pocket. So yes try your best to push them to do both side.
    Have you tried another dealer?

Nah bruh, first gen is best gen. No cam tower leaks here. :D

Sucks to hear they'll only do the one side. Cheap pricks. Have you talked to another dealer to see if they'll do both sides?

Thank for the input guys. And thanks for sharing your experience @SR5 AZUL .

So far I’ve only spoken with the dealer that I purchased the truck from. I was thinking about talking to the service manager, then trying a couple other local dealers.
