hey there I'm new to the chat scene here but I have a 2005 Toyota tundra limited 4x4 that I'm wanting to fix up. I came across some 305 65r 18s that will give me the look I'm after. I'm almost positive it's going to rub stock. So I'm sure I'm going to need a lift in the front and was thinking about going with 2.5s in the front and maybe 1 in the rear. Will I be in the clear and not have to do any kind of cutting around the wheel wells?

Nope, won’t clear. I have long travel TC uca’s, King shocks, and fit 33’s with a great alignment that moved caster +4. You want larger, gonna have to cut.

Unless you have a 6 inch rcd lift, you will be cutting lots of metal

Really that sucks. I have some 285/65r/18 on the rims now and put them on and they fit stock just barely touched. I mean just touched. But it just look too narrow to me. And with those tires on it really looks like I dont need to do much in the back at all

285/65/18 on a stock gen 1? What wheel are you running?

It's a 2005 4x4 limited. I don't know the name of the rims. They have a H on the center hub cap and they are a little older style. I found them on OfferUp and they fit so I went with them because it was cheap. I had a tire shop put on some 285/65/18 called GT Radial Adventuro AT3. I don't really care for the look of them and will probably change them out to either BFG ko2s or falken wildpeak at3. But the 285 65 r18's are 32.5 tall and 11.5 wide. The 305 65 r18's are 33.6 tall and 12 wide. Is a inch taller and 1/2 inch wider really going to make that much of a difference even with a 2.5in spacer in the front and 1 in the back?

I don’t know how any of us can answer this for you, except based on our experiences. Mine are Cooper Discoverer STT Pros, 285 75R16. They are true 33” on SCS Ray 10 16x8 -12mm backspace wheels. They rubbed in reverse at full lock, but this was corrected with > +4 caster.

I’m not sure how much difference you’ll get with 65R, but I’m running 16” wheels and you’re running 18”, so I’m not visualizing how it will work. I think you’ll need to cut some metal.

I ran 285/75 on my gen 1 as well on a 16x8 wheel. With 2 inches of lift it rubbed. I couldn’t imagine going wider

Yeah I think I've decided I'm going with the 285/65r/18. I stopped by a couple of shops around town and they said I'd be in the clear if I put the 2.5in spacers in the front a with diff drop kit the and 1in in the back. I can see now how the 305s would be to much. I'm going to play it safe and try not to put to much stress on the truck and stay a little smaller with the tires. I got the falken Wildpeak AT3W on order. They should still give Some the look I'm after so we will see what happens.
