Not to mention that the Hellwig costs nearly twice as much the TRD! But they are HEAVY DUTY (Solid forged spring steel, 1.13" diameter)...and they're also already gray powdercoat.

Yep, the Hellwig on my 2002 is a beast... it's much larger than the TRD on my '07.

I got the rear sway bar for my birthday too, but due to UPS delivery. My box was broken and I’m missing a end link spacer. I have to go HD get a coupling nut, and cut to length, to replace the missing spacer.

That thing is thicker..(that's what she said) so your rear end would be planted more on the road than the TRD bar?

Did you shim your brake line on the drivers side or are you letting it rub on the shackle? I got a longer bolt and put some washers under the bracket. That's how ocd I am

My bad. Yeah, I was referring to the labor cost, not the cost of the RSB.

For a tow vehicle, I would go with the Hellwig for insurance (Sorry, @Roman). For daily street driving, Toyota has probably sized the TRD to be all you'll ever need.

The Hellwig has three holes in each end of the anti-roll bar: the end hole has the least effect, middle for medium effect, inside hole for maximum roll resistance.

I noticed that, and this makes me wonder about those installs of the TRD SB on the side, might have differing effect to the proper install. Sure it'll have some effect but is it the same?

I'm not clear what you mean when you say "installs of the TRD SB on the side".

The end links for the TRD and the Hellwig anti-roll bars attach at the same point, i.e. in the front bolt hole of the trailer hitch bracket for 2007+. The Hellwig anti-roll bar is 1 1/8" diameter forged steel bar, the TRD is maybe 7/8"(?) diameter forged steel bar. I estimate the Hellwig will be slightly stiffer than the TRD with the links mounted in the end hole, or the lowest stiffness setting. If you are towing a large camper, the stiffer roll bar will help stabilize your truck against sway induced by the camper. If you're driving the Hellwig daily on the street, you may see a little more stiffness in the ride, even with the links in the end hole. Just guessing here, haven't ordered one yet.

Guys who lift their trucks have to install the sway bar on the back of the axle instead of under it. I cant imagine it making a difference

I had to install mine on the backside because I lowered the rear.

Ahhhh, now I get it. Hellwig has a different part number for trucks with 2-4" lift, plus the end links are adjustable if needed. For 2007-2020, stock height with trailer hitch, the rear anti-roll bar is PN7692. For 2-4" lift, you use PN7889.

    Update 500 miles later....

Very minimal loosening of Ubolt nuts only. Retorqued to specs.

We had an extremely windy day here in the middle of NC yesterday and that sway bar made a huge difference with handling and body sway against the wind. I was very surprised how well it handled.

    Best upgrade yet!

    Y'all have a good week!

Agreed. One of the best benefits is driving on the interstate with strong crosswinds.

Take it up to 75 or 80 mph and do a quick lane change....you will feel the difference. I have front and rear.

OEM Tundra front sway bar (48811-0C020) - 17 lb - hollow (inner diameter d approx. 64% of outer diameter D)

    OEM Sequoia front sway bar (48811-0C030) - 24 lb - hollow but thicker walls (d/D = 0.41) - 16% stiffer than Tundra (ref. 1)

    2018 TRD Sport front sway bar (PTR62-0C180) - 29 lb (ref. 2) - solid - 20% stiffer than Tundra (ref. 3)

My 2018 Limited Tundra drives like a dream to me [it came with a front sway bar]. For 50 bucks difference, I think I'll go with the TRD Sport when I put it on, although I am not sure the difference would be noticeable.
