Here's my old 650 back in about '87 after I had painted it. We sold our skis when we move to AZ in '96 :(.

Always wanted a stand up. Still want to get one some day. They look like so much fun.

Cool! Paint is awesome. I pretty much only run mine in AZ at the Colorado River.

Ya they are a lot of fun. They are harder than they look to ride, but worth the effort. And they haul ass.

Can’t believe I missed this thread. The main reason I have a truck is to tow my boat!

My dad has a 1986 Vanguard Phantom, which is identical to a Glastron GVX, with a Suzuki 140 hp outboard. 16', fiberglass, bow rider. We mostly use it for waterskiing and cruising these days but in the past he has/ we have also done kneeboarding, tubing, fishing and barefooting. The boat and motor together only weigh about 1200 lbs so with the oversized two stroke on there, she just flies.

My dad and I have casually discussed what we might do if this boat dies but there isn't much on the market that we like right now. His vehicle only tows 3000 lbs and we like that we can load, unload and maneuver this boat by hand. The lake we go to is also shallow along shore with a steep drop off so something with a shallow draft that we can easily beach at night works best for us. Glastron has a couple decent boats and I really like the Ski Nautique but there's nothing perfect out there.

Before buying my boat, I test drove a Four Winns Horizon 180 with a 135 HP Evinrude H.O. eTec on the back. Great boat and I think the dry weight was something like 2,000 lbs. I ended up going with a slightly larger boat due to how rough our lake gets, and I was a bit nostalgic for a V8 bowrider since that's what I grew up boating on.

If you're looking to stay in that size range I'd give the 180 with the outboard a look.

Looks like you can't get a bow rider with an outboard from Four Winns any more?

To get the smaller ones you need to opt for the deck boat.

    https://www.fourwinns.com/us/boat/hd-180-ob

You can probably find some leftover stock at your local dealers, or just get one that's a few years old and lightly used. Up here in the freshwater lakes of the northeast boats last for decades with regular maintenance.

Ive got no pics on this computer, but I may be the only sailor here! Ive got an Aura 7.6, which is essentially a tarted up Columbia 7.6 (25 foot) that has a little 9 horse yanmar diesel. I also have a 1983 Wilker Spirit 16 foot deep-Vee bowrider with a 1967 merc 950SS I am currently restoring. I've also got a 14 foot tinny with a choice of evinrude 9.9 or 2 horse depending on if I'm fishing or hunting. One big reason for wanting my tundra was to tow my sailboat. It's about 8000# all in with the trailer and I was sick of having to bug my friends to tow me to and from the marina in the spring and fall.

We got our season started today. The hills are green and the lake is full. Boat ran perfect and we celebrated my son’s 7th birthday.

If I was just going fishing maybe but to go slalom skiing it's still to cold here. Believe me I'll be breaking out the wetsuit as soon as I can.:D

Thank you! We try to do Feb-Oct but usually end up skipping June because it is just too hot. Today we launched at about 2:15 and it was 75 in the air and 60 in the water.
