My wife got a new Sequoia back in May. She really liked the exterior look of the TRD Pro Sequoia that was on it’s way, but preferred the Platinum interior. I told her it wouldn’t be difficult to add the Pro exterior items to the Platinum, so she decided to pull the trigger on one.
She’d been driving a Limited Sequoia for about 8 years, and had right at 200k on the odometer. In that time, not a single mechanical failure had happened to her Sequoia. 8 years, and 200,000 miles, and all we had done to it was maintenance, tires, brakes, lamps, etc. That is exceptional by any standards.
Though there were no issues with her truck, she travels a lot for work, and I didn’t want to wait until issue arose to get her something new. She’d broken down on the side of the highway on her way to Austin in her old Tahoe years ago, and I had to go get her from Houston. Since then, I’ve always been leary of her traveling long distances by herself in anything with a lot of miles on it.
She was also wanting a nicer interior and upgraded features. Though Toyota hasn’t upgraded the Sequoia much in the last decade or more, the Platinum was an upgrade over the Limited. Since Toyota had no plans of releasing a new model any time soon, and she didn’t like any other vehicle on the market, we went ahead and made the purchase.

We hadn’t done much to it until recently. Starting to make some major changes lately, so it’s time to make a progress thread.

    The night we got it:

Didn’t get pics, but first thing I did was change the interior lamps to LED, and added Weathertech floor mats.

Did it’s first detail that weekend. Decontaminated the paint with IronX and Nanoskin mitt, sealed with Carpro Hydro2 and Reload.

Changed puddle lights to LED. Just got cheap ones from Amazon for the time being.

Didn’t do much else until recently when the TRD Pro Sequoia grill became available. I ordered white, and need to get it painted Blizzard Pearl to match.

    77E10F5B-6571-404E-9916-55215DAF22E3.jpg

Ordered black mirror caps and door handles. She wants the mirror caps to be Blizzard Pearl, so I will get them painted along with the grill. She wanted to keep the door handles black, so installed those yesterday morning.

    Truck as it is now.

Will update with pics when the grill and mirror caps are painted and installed. Next up is wheels and tires. She’s still in the process of deciding what she wants, but she’s starting to get excited with the changes, so it probably won’t be too long.

I will also be looking at blacking out or removing the chrome badges, door strip, etc. She says she doesn’t mind having some chrome on there, so it will be her call on what to change. I would like to for sure black out the Toyota and Sequoia emblems on the rear door, but it’s up to her.

Thanks for reading. Hope you guys dig it!

Edit: Pic with wheels, door handles, mirror caps and grill finished:

This would’ve been less hassle if she’d gone with a standard color though.

My baby boy calls that color "Baby Batter White". When we got my wife's T4R Limited I was looking at that color until he said that. She has an MGM because of that observation.

Looking good Jason. The truck looks so clean, its amazing how a brand new vehicle really isn't that clean. That first detailing job made a huge difference. I really like the grill too.
