This post hopefully gives you a chuckle. I bought a new 2020 TRD Pro on Monday trading off my trusty 2012 F-150. The dealer had two green Pro’s and said I could take my pick. I looked both over and test drove the one with high VIN number. I liked the truck, made the deal, and went back to finance. The salesman took the truck to have it cleaned and the tank filled. When I got done I walked out and noticed a huge dent in the side of the passenger bed.

The sale’s manager ran out and said “we can take that right out” and “that happens in the wash bay sometimes”. My response was to walk in and get my check. They quickly decided to bring out the 2nd green TRD and ask for my check back....more paperwork but I finally left.

On the way home, I noticed the low tire pressure light came on and it was dropping fast. I had my road kit with me and fixed what looked like a nail. Pulled it out, plugged it with two rope plugs, aired back up, and was on my way.

Today it was flat again and I fished out porcelain around the plugs. I took the tire off and heard a noise inside. One new tire later (on me) and the metal end of a spark plug fished out of the old tire and I’m back on the road.

I really really hope the drama is over.

Ah, the joys of purchasing a new truck. My question is WTF are they doing in the wash bay that "sometimes" causes huge dents to trucks?? Crazy.

In 2017 I bought a spankn’ new Tundra. Less that a week later it was hailed on.

3 weeks ago I traded that 2017 Tundra for a spankn’ new 2020 Tundra. Less than 24hrs later my new 2020 Tundra was hailed on.

    I feel your pain.

I think we were bit by the same snake....my 2012 F-150 was hailed on the 1st week I owned it. My prior 05 tundra was hit by a flying leaf spring (broke off a 2ton truck I was passing) and it pierced the C pillar. My family claims I have a new truck curse.

Beware the free car wash...my wife had her Acura MDX wrecked during her free wash with service.

    Not many yet, mostly stock.
Congrats on the new Pro. Your story sounds similar to an oil change I got from the dealership.
I’m betting the wash bay has small step stools that are used fo short people to stand on so they can reach your roof, I bet someone lost there balance and caused that dent.
    Welcome from NorCal.

Hopefully it's good luck from here on out for you. It's funny they brought the truck out with a huge dent and tried to pass it off as something that wasn't a big deal. You'd think any dealer with a shred of integrity wouldn't even try to pass that off that way and would immediately be finding a new truck for you.

I'm still shocked that a spark plug went through the Michelin electrode end first. I have never seen anything like that. You'd think the insulator would have buckled before the electrode/threaded end would pierce the tire cords. Not a fan of these Michelin LTX AT/2 tires. The old K02s on my Ford would have crushed that plug.
