    Stock for now!!!
    Guys,
getting close to pulling trigger on new (used) buy. Drove a 14 CM 4x4 30K miles with original set up and tires. It had a vibration that started at 45 and continued to 70. 70 was as fast as I could get it based on where we drove......vibration constant not bad but constant until i slowed back below 45.....I am thinking just tire or balance......truck did not pull either way and breaking did not change vibration at all.....THOUGHTS??

    THANKS

Are you buying from a dealer? If so, don't sign papers until issue is fixed. And even then, make sure you have some warranty behind that.

Truck is beautiful except that.........was think if I am pretty sure it was just that....get him down to acceptable price then ask for $600 tire allowance and put new tires on it....it has dunlop dweller.....tread seems about 50%....how many miles are guys getting on stock tires?

Last Tundra was 2008 Limited 4x4, came with Bridgestone Dueller Allenza 275/55/20 (cannot remember the suffixes), had to replace at around 25k....dealer fitted exact same tires and mileage was around the same (+/-) when they went out of balance quickly...wtf!
At around 57k, next set were Michelin LTX, seemed to be holding up OK but I sold the truck at 61k...
Highway and City driving only with NO off-road stuff....B'Stone should be good for >50k according to maker's specifications???
New Platinum has Dunlop Sport 5000's fitted...we will see.....

Price sounds right for a 2014. There was another member here yesterday looking at a 2013 for around $35K. So price seems reasonable.

Dealership has my last Tundra Limited (2008 and 61k miles...only!!) listed at 26k, with all the options fitted.....nearly 9 years old but babied, so to me, +/- $38k sounds like a deal....BUT with new rubber......cannot recommend Bridgestone Dueller Allenza however....

Man....you are waaaay ahead of the curve if you've got a 2104 lined up....bless you brother.

Just kidding around, that sounds like about the right price if it's in solid shape in Platinum trim.

I'm the guy that almost pulled the string on a 13' CoMiamiFan referenced. Got paranoid though not being sure of how it's 35k miles were accumulated. Much like when I bought my Vette, I didn't want something that may have been beat on. Now looking to purchase new and not worry about it, plus I've learned a LOT in a couple of evenings reading on this forum - what a fantastic source.

    Hope it works out well....

Here is what that tells me...the dealer hasn't done shit with that truck...they took it in on trade and pencil whipped the inspection and checkout and are hopeful to have a guy like you come in and buy it...standard act...they have no idea that truck has a bad vibration from 45-70...eff that. What does the carfax say? I have a 14 w/ all stock running gear and it has never had a vibration....I have 43K miles on it and on my second set of Michelin's (same as what came on it new) I cut one and I just replaced them all...I still could have gotten another 15-20K out of the original Michelins. I don't like the Deulers...had them on several trucks and they get noisy about 1/2 way through.

Here is what else I don't like: Tires usually vibrate at certain speeds...it comes and goes as the tire flexes in motion...not just vibrate consistently across a broad range 45-70mph+. Driveshafts tend to vibrate/shimmy over a broader range and show at higher speeds. For my money, they would have to resolve the issue. There is plenty of margin for them to replace the tires (if that what it turns out to be) and you still work a great deal. If it is something else like the driveshaft, its a warranty issue and they aren't paying anyway...you still are able to work them over and get yourself a great deal.

Crunch527.......Great advise thanks......the vibration was only felt in the steering wheel not the seat or floor board.....I have a 12 Taco with 41K all stock and she rides as nice as the day I brought her home new from dealer.....I will tell the dealer I am willing to talk price....WHEN they resolve the vibration. Thanks for all the great advise and this is the best truck forum ever....

When I was considering the Chevy (don't hit me), I went to the forum and after 5 min decided no way.....on that sight 90% of the discussion is fixing problems, discussing engine codes and grips and complaints.......10 percent are about cool stuff......this sight 98% cool stuff 2% bad gas mileage.......this site rocks.

    Is Platinum a MUST?

$38k can get you new 17 sr5 5.7 v8 4x4 ( about 43k msrp) and modern it to your liking ...or about 41k for a limited. Just another option to consider.

I'm with the other guys, don't buy it with the vibration, have them fix it first. You shouldn't have to fix anything off a dealer lot in my opinion.

If it's an easy fix, good, then they should be able to fix it easily. But don't buy in the hopes that it's an easy fix. If it turns out not to be the tires, chasing down a vibration can be a nightmare. Good luck Jack, I'm sure you'll be joining us soon, one way or another.

Have them put wheels and tires from a new tundra on it and test drive the truck to see if it still vibrates.

I have this exact same truck with 19,000 miles. No issues, but get different tires. My stock tires are junk. I traded a new 2015 SR5 TRD for a 2014 Platinum for all the goodies. It was worth it to me. Good Luck! Let us know what decide to do!
