Turn off the nannies. Turn on Tow Haul mode if you have it. Lots more fun in the snow.

I leave the nannies on. Not an issue unless you take a turn too fast. Then it engages and becomes a pain. just accelerate thru the turn so nannies know what you are trying to do and it compensates accordingly. That's been my experience so far . . .

You can turn on 4x4 (HI) and you'll be fine.

Deep stuff freaks me out . . . feels like you are going to get stuck. Then you have to eat your kids for survival. Not a good place to be.

And how traction control will throw you on the wrong side of the road in a 55mph zone.:goingcrazy:

Actually OP, the Tundra Traction Control system is pretty good on the roads and light off-road.

Where the traction control needs to be totally off is in mud and deep snow. This is where a machanical limited slip would be awesome.

Turn them off before engaging 4 wheel. Especially in deep snow/sand/mud.

Matt you need to do that mod where you press it once and it turns them all off. I would like to but electrical work is beyond my pay grade. :(

No, I don't think Techstream can do this. But someone added this mod to their '07, I'm sure it's not too different to do to ours. I'm sure @bobeast could wire this up.

I went by what the manual says. It does not mention anything about turning nannies off. The only thing it specifies (from going from 2wd to 4hi) is to be under certain speed. I noticed that traction control light does not come on with 4hi engaged. So some functions gets turned off, but I am not sure what specific functions gets turned off when you switch to 4hi.
