I love my Tundra, so happy with reliability that I'm shopping for another. I'm not replacing it, my daughter is about to be driving & rather than buy her a used vehicle for her I'd rather her have a reliable one that we know the history:)
I've been searching the forum because I'm not finding the options I'm looking for & wanted to get ideas.

Welcome from CO. Feel free to ask any questions you might have. Plenty of folks here that will help point you in the right direction. What would you use the truck for most of the time? Towing, off road, commuter car, all of the above? :D

Welcome bud. Is this going to be your daughter's first car/truck? It's reliable but not the easiest thing to drive.

Yes, it is. She has been learning to drive on it. So far so good, fingers crossed. Now parking, that may be a little more challenging :)

I drive a TRD & am looking for similar. I'm thinking a TSS but I am really not a fan of all the chrome. Also, leather really is on my must list because I haul hay regularly & haul a horse trailer & show goats on occasion & it gets dirty. It will be my daily driver. I'm looking for sporty. I'm finding lots of chrome & cloth & everything is an up charge? Trying to figure out the best way to get the things I want at the best price.

From the factory it's going to cost ya.

You can find something with leather then get rid of the chrome on your own. Here is my SR5 for reference.

You can also buy quality aftermarket leather seat covers.

That looks like just about what I am looking for :) Suggestions for how to deal with the chrome? Dealers want about $1400 for leather covers. Looked at a Pro but not the color/s I would like in stock & pricey, non-negotiable, where some other 2017 models are 7K off which just make more sense.

When I was looking, I saw that some places had a TSS Black package. Still has some chrome but had black wheels and steps.

There are two options you have if you don't like chrome, Pro or Platinum. Well, Platinum has some, but they are relatively easier to get rid of. I vote for a Pro.

Welcome from WI! buy a new SR5 and delete the chrome and add what you want. Will be cheaper than buying a higher end model and you can do a lot of it in a weekend. Add wheels and tires and good to go!

Welcome. It's (IMO) really about the package, leather, seat heaters, sunroof, etc. Getting rid of chrome isn't that hard. A lot of people, myself included, have switched the chrome grille for a color matched Pro grill. Bumper ends can be wrapped or powder coated. Or you can have them swapped before purchase. Handles are super easy to replace yourself. You can watch craigslist, Tundra classified on FB for a deal or just buy 'em color matched or black. Hope this helps. I had a lot of chrome to get rid of and found it pretty easy.

You have a few options with chrome depending on what you want to spend and your preference. Here are a few that I considered.

Grill: I love the look of the Pro grills and when I bought my truck the Pro wasn't even a rumor. My truck is black (202) and so are the black Pro's so I ordered a colored matched hood bulge and grill from @Roman . If you get a color that the Pro wasn't available it, he can have it sprayed for you. Roman was great to deal with. If you don't want to spend the money for a new grill and hood bulge you can plastidip them, color matched if you can find the color of the truck you want from a plastidip dealer. www.dipyourcar.com has a pretty big selection.

Bumpers: Options in order of my best guess of cheapest to most expensive. Plastidip (what I did), Autodip, Vinyl wrap, Powdercoat, (what I would like to do when I can find the time to take off my front bumper) Line-X, or finally buy new plastic bumpers and have them sprayed. Be careful if you have a truck with BSM and/or sonar with what works with what materials and getting the right part numbers.

Wheels: Plastidip, paint, or Powdercoat. I used Plastidip but plan to get mine powdercoated all black when it's time for new tires.

Headlights: The stock headlights are all chrome, the TRD Pro headlights have black bezels which add some black.

I retrofitted TRD Pro headlights myself, I left the chrome in the DRL housing but blacked out the headlight reflector. That's pretty involved but wanted to explain how they are so dark.

I don't have any personal experience with aftermarket leather, but I know some on here do. I do have cheap $15 covers from Cabela's I bought to use as occasional temporary covers for a day if I know I'm going to be getting it dirty (like hitting the MX track), but haven't used them yet. I don't think they would work well with the side impact air bags and I wouldn't want them on often.

Good luck! I agree with the others, the goats will love the TRD Pro!
