i am glad that i got the 12's. the system sounds good to me. it is so much better than the stock system. i am sure that there are better systems out there, but this one is a great bang for the buck and everything was plug and play..

@Netmonkey do you have a picture of the crossovers mounted on the rear doors?? I went to mount the same way as front doors but the wiring harness is in the way. I just flipped the mount and it fit well that way. just wanted to know if you had to do the same. No videos or images ever show the rear door mounts.

hmm... I guess I didn't take a picture of the crossover on the rear door. for me, it went in the same way as the front doors.

Thanks to your installation doc file it helped me big time. Finished my install last night. Only question I have is for the Mids and Highs amp. For tuning it is set on HP. Does it get changed back to Full once done? Thanks again for this write up!!

no, once the amp is tuned, leave the settings the way they are. do not change them back.

I like the email photo regarding the blue remote on wire.

That one also got me for my install of the LOC and my Amp.
Called Crutchfield and the support Rep asked me the exact same question.

    Dang blue wire !!!

Nice write up my man... Should be a sticky !!!

Just wrapped up the same install in my crewmax yesterday. I've done a number of audio installs over the years and this one was the most complex. But with the step by step videos and the outstanding support that I got from Daniel, everything went super smooth. The sound of this system is outstanding and the best part is I didn't have to cut a single factory wire for the entire install (including when I swapped out the head unit). Overall, I am extremely happy with this system and the amazing support I received. If anyone is considering doing this upgrade, I highly recommend it. Just plan for a full day of work to do the install!

Nice write up. On 2 is why I went the Tech 12 Volts direction of having brand name products supported by mfg's. I know anything other than stock will greatly improve the sound, but I was exhausted reading this. Think the 12 volt is a little more straight forward and similar, no stock harnesses to cut. Hope you figure out your next steps and get it banging again!

Heh. Yes, I live in Texas, but you would be better off going directly to T a c o t u n e s for an installation.

Do you happen to have an idea how much to expect to pay at ********* for installation?

Back in 2018, they were charging around $550 for the installation; which is totally worth it. But I don't know what they are charging now. You should contact them.

$550 is worth it. I spent probably 12hrs total on my speaker and amp install. I think the most time consuming was doing the sound deadening. I'm sort of a perfectionist though. Glad I tackled it myself and saved money for my subs. After doing all of that, the sub install will be cake.

Curious - what did TT do or not do that caused the forum to block their name in all the posts? Were they a paying member that stopped paying?

This is an OUTSTANDING thread! Perhaps one of the most well laid out and comprehensive DIY posts I've seen in a very long time. Thank you for putting it together. I am about to start my install this week and I am so glad to have stumbled across this. It all makes sense now. I was a little worried at first, but this thread was spot on. I am putting in the 1B with sound deadener all the way around and 2 x 12" subs. Also doing component speakers front and rear. Can hardly wait. I have not heard one of these systems yet. Only could find one video that seemed to show what it sounds like. Hope it ends up worth the money. Everyone says it is. - JT

Just purchased a non JBL 2021 Crewmax and considering the audio upgrade at some point.

Thanks for your very detailed step by step procedure. I can truly appreciate the time it must have added to your install and it will be a great resource when I begin pulling my truck apart.

Unless it was skimmed over I didn't notice a signal processor such as a Fix 86 was used in front of the amps.
Wondering if such a unit would have made much of a difference in the sound quality on your system and counter any possible bass roll off that many factory head units are known to have.

The JBL system does require a signal processor whereas the non JBL system does not require one. Since I do not have the JBL system, I opted to not add that unit. For me, the quality of the new system is just fine. It is way better than the stock system so I am happy with it. I suppose if you are a true audiophile, you would want to add the signal processor for even better audio quality.

Word has it they have screwed customers both here and on Tacomaworld over the years. No one has gone into detail.

My own experience with TT was mixed. Very mixed.

Yes I see it (install doc) but when I click on it, it just goes to the thread and no doc. It might be my computer but the checklist doesnʻt show up.
