I finally received a response to my info request via ICON's website. On a separate note, after the general springs and ICON AAL I have decided I'll be ordering a custom Deaver pack. Hopefully my experience is better this time as I'll be ordering in December (hopefully less busy). I think this is the only way I'll get the lift and ride quality which I desire.

The dimmer is one thing I miss. My old pioneer touch screen from 2007 had a dimmer and my current one I just bought a few months ago doesn't. Wtf is that about? It drive me crazy at night. I hate it.

It's not a broomstick so it should work on tundras too.

Awesome custom work there. Yeah. The Tundra is holding the hood up. It just doesn’t go up as easily on its own as I remember.

@bmf4069 ….that somewhat scrunched oil filter and sledge hammer ? so much reminds me of my Dad(God rest his soul). His idea of changing Moms oil was a hammer and screw driver thru the filter. He could build one hell of a house for folks but was NOT meant to be a shade tree mechanic :eek2:

NVM found a video on how to manually use the dimmer. But still lame. How's my 06 tundra not going to have an auto dimmer when my 99 taco and 03 taco did??

You can pick up a new pair for the hood for under $50 from Rock Auto or Amazon

Pretty sure there's plenty that'll fit, it's just a standard double din correct? You just need the mounting kit.

A dimmer for the radio? My aftermarket Pioneer has a sensor on the front that auto dims depending on the ambient light. Works perfectly.

Ha! Yeah, I guess the PO thought the oil filter needed to be torqued to 150 ft-lb. I had to get my 480s out to get it off. The BFH was for......persuading things.

Nah mine doesn't have that. It has an orange and white wire that wires to the headlights but I guess my truck didn't have that wire or the guys at car toys forgot to wire it. I honestly can't remember if it had it when I messed with the other radios I had before

that wire is kinda famous for causing issues and blowing fuses, so it typically stays undone

Got it, that makes more sense. I'd go aftermarket just for the Carplay/Android Auto capability but I also drive a lot.

    What did ICON say?

Also, I thought you had factory leafs and the AAL. Did you get the general springs?

well. looks like i might of found my ticket for the radio i want. 2020 86 looks like it has the same size radio as the factory tundra one. need to make sure it has no major changes to wiring (shouldnt) as long as thats good, factory wires for scions are out there to adapt the older stuff like wheel controls and antenna to the newer radios. best part is the 2020 86 has carplay. hopefully the radios start popping up on the used market soon

should be simple enough to get a DIY written up. but i have to wait for used headunits to become available. new those suckers are like 1200. used market on base model 86 radios seems to be 100-300 depending on what unit it is.. so id guess less than 400 for the new ones when they start poping up.

We are in the boonies and close to a Raceway Salvage yard that is about to open up a portion of their acreage as a "Pick-A-Part". Will check with them from time to time as I head to town for a wrecked 2020.

I wasn't asking ICON about the AAL, I was wondering if they were working on CDCV front CO's for 1st gens. The answer is know but some people have used the 1st gen 4Runner models to achieve the same thing.

I bought General Springs and added the AAL to them. They ride great but they sag badly with any sort of load, 400 lbs of camping gear and they dropped about an inch.

    hmm worth a shot.
    https://www.amazon.com/TOYOTA-Genuine-PT546-00142-Audio-Harness/dp/B00O59WLRW
this harness set (expensive yes) should adapt all the original tundra stuff to work on the newer radio. and it converts the toyota USB port to a regular USB so you can put one some where.

give it a few months and all the kids swapping OEM radios out of the 2020s will start popping up on ebay

Where are you located? I may be interested in the leafs when you're done with em. I have the wheelers AAL which is heavier duty than the icon and I don't load the bed often. I just want the flex for wheeling.

Researching these OEM Toy Dealer Install Running Boards. I like the tight sculpted OEM look these have.

Found a scrap yard with a set for $125 total (not sure about shipping yet). Guy on phone was cool and texted me some shots. Waiting till Monday to pull trigger. Plan is to clean them up and spray them with Black Rustoleum Bedliner style. What your thoughts @empty_lord? Only things missing are the OEM bolts. Can I use self tappers? Or just order a bolt kit? This donor is an 03 and mine is an 02.

I honestly don’t remember how those mount. But if it’s like the sequoias it’s just some m8 bolts in the body. Your truck should have the threaded holes if that’s how it was

I didn't think the Generals were any better than the OEM's..? I thought people were picking them because they are inexpensive.

Anyone out there with these running boards pictured above? Can you take an under chassis pic and post it? Maybe a couple angles of the dangles to see how these mount? Thank you.
