Building custom sliders. Need opinions.

Ok here is the general idea. I’m trying to match the bottom body lines. I have tapered the front corners in for sliding purposes. My question is what does everyone think I should do for the rear corners? Keep it square for extra stepping ability into the front of box? Taper it in to match the front for reverse sliding? Let me know what I should think about before making the cuts. Cheers!

What about a tighter taper? Here’s 6” instead of 12”. More to step on still clean and tapered.

 

That looks like the ticket to me. It's what I would do if I were talented enough to work with metal like that. Pretty cool. Are you going to powder coat it?

 

Sorry, couldnt help ya make a decision but you've captured my curiosity and wanted to sub and see how these turn out for you. I am patiently waiting for black friday deals to see if white knuckle sliders go in sale. I do like the idea of more area in the rear for a step into the bed as well as it help push the truck around obstacles.

Nice! Me too. I’m a shorter fella and the truck is lifted so it’s impossible to reach in without stepping on the tire. Can’t wait for steps

 

Y’all are too slow haha. I went with 8” taper on the rear. I think it looks proper.

Thanks haha. Dude I catch so much f*ckin slack for these wheels on a daily basis if I’m driving it haha. It was pretty fun for a few months but they are driving me crazy now. The only reason I haven’t spray bombed them black is I’m saving for real rims and I’m lazy. I might spray em while it in the shop tho. Haha

Sliders that are shaped like a frown. I've seen everything. Not what I would have done, but better than what most people would think up I suppose.

Ya I was kinda questioning that too. I’m my theory is the ends are so close to the wheels that they wouldn’t hook up on anything. When I mount them for good they will be tucked closer up to the body as well. I like being different and making stuff myself- this is the outcome haha.

 

Believe me I understand all of that. Your thought process seems sound. I wasn't knocking you. Most people think a welder is something that requires a 4 year degree to operate. Diy is always better than not doing anything.

I’ve learned a lot by just giving things a shot. I seem to work well under pressure and cutting into projects give me no choice but to succeed.

 

Thanks. The steel is a pretty beefy, 3/32”. Maybe I should weigh them.

Sliders are looking good man! Keep at it. I like the rear of the slider to protect the tire (kickout) but yours look good. Looks like work! I can’t work with metal but I would wonder if you could taper the bottom of the sliders on each end for no snagging?
